I'm not sure if it's easier or harder to live life in 2D. It'd be pretty hard to get by not being able to judge any grey area, but then again, ignorance is bliss.

No, these guys aren't right wing and they certainly don't care about attention.

The Westboro baptist church is possibly one of the most well disguised injury law firms ever. The entire 'church' is actually almost entirely made up of the Phelps family, about 4 generations worth. Of that family, most of them are lawyers. An excerpt from Fred Phelps (the grandfather) wiki page:

quote:

Phelps is a disbarred lawyer, founder of the Phelps Chartered law firm, and a former civil rights activist. He has occasionally run for political office as a Democrat. In the election for United States Senator for Kansas in 1992, he received 49,416 votes (30.8%) in the Democratic primary, coming in second after Gloria O'Dell (who subsequently lost to later presidential candidate Bob Dole).

Phelps had 5 kids, all of them lawyers. Many of his grandchildren are lawyers as well.

Which leads me to the Fred Phelps Business model: Do crazy shite to get people to assault you, then sue the shite out of them for damages.

At any given time, the Phelps Chartered law firm (the REAL WBC) has several dozen lawsuits for assault and other similar offenses pending across America. They rake in the money because of idiots who think they actually believe the things they shout. This is all about a family law firm that figured out how to use the legal system to make money.

Sounds like Phelps is a model citizen among the Alinsky ranks. Rules for Radicals is his calling card.

The extreme right wing trolls for ya.

Does it matter which "side" they are on? They are a psycho cult, that wants the shock value to push and agenda. Kind of like you labeling them far right wingers. It fits your agenda.

Are you really arguing that a baptist isn't right wing? Come on now.

Do you think that Westboro is really a representation of the Baptist church? Come on now.

The tea party stance on gay rights is the same as the Greenpeace stance: not applicable to stated goals. The Tea Party is a fiscal movement, it has nothing to do with social policy.

Hitler and Nazis, right or left wing?

Desire to control others and support for the military really are not the issue. I think some of you have listened to too much talk radio.

Right and left wing are an over simplification. Ideology is a 2d grid, not a 1d line.

So why use the words Baptist Church in the name of their group?

I never made any claims about dimensions. I am simply arguing that if we are going to have to simplify and say right or left, then these nuts are on the right. Please do not make this more complicated that it needs to be.

I thought the Tea Party was a conservative movement rather than ideological.

So conservative is not ideological? Do you mean partisan? Even that is a stretch since you find very few tea part democrats, if any.
