I've been reading some pre-season reviews and have always thought it ironic when some encouraged homer scribe writes, "Yes, Mushroom U. only won 2 games last season, but they return 9 starters on offense and 8 on defense."

Isn't that just saying Ol' Mushroom U. played like shite last year and they have basically the same players this year?

Sometimes yes. Sometimes no.

Vandy returned all 22 starters one season. Plus the P and PK. Problem was is that they played for Vandy the previous season.

Even UF fans thought I was crazy in 2012 when I picked them to go 11-1 because they were returning all 11 defensive starters from a 7-6 team. The 11 was just the half of it though. Hell, they were returning ALL 11 back-ups as well. Unprecedented! Defense still won in the SEC then, thus the 11-1 pick. They went 11-1!

No, returning players often enter a hyperbolic time chamber and return much better.

OP do you acknowledge that in the college game players often develop and get better with age, playing time, time in the system?

This is exactly what I've been reading about Notre Dame. This is a team coming off a 4-8 season and they are replacing most of their coaching staff (including the O and D coordinators) as well as their starting QB.

Who let you post a thread?
We know Missouri sucked last year, and will suck this year. Stop cluttering up the boards with these redundant threads.
