Did he not make the trip to Gainesville? Etienne ran all over him.

Cupcakes or no cupcakes we haven't been getting many sacks after Derrick Barnett left until this year. Our dline and LBs are really getting after the ball this year.

Dude...half of that 22 was against us. The worst O-line in D1.

you have no idea about Rodney Garner obviously
I know what I see right now and the DLine is performing well since he had been at UT. He is also recruiting very well and developing players for the NFL as well.
Byron Young went from not playing college ball at all to being drafted in the 3rd round with in 2 years. Young is having a great Roomie season with the Rams. He is tied with Micah Parson for #1st in the NFL for QB hits. I also believe Young is beating all Rookies for sacks and TFL’s so far this season. But Garner didn’t haven’t nothing to do with non of that I don’t reckon.
Don’t forget that the Vols are #1 in sacks in the country right now.

RG is a plus recruiter and a decent DL coach.
The guys he's been having produce weren't guys he recruited. Pearce is tho.

Easy to jailbreak a great runner when you can hold without being called.
But to your point... we were missing 5 starters against Florida (more than one was on D). Even so, they didn't do much in the 2nd half.

Not to be a homer but are we honestly not including ERob in this convo? A key component to the best recruiting class in history, and I’d remind you that UT is only two sacks ahead of A&M, and while we haven’t played world class olines, we also haven’t played USCe yet. Let’s see how it goes

I think OP is just stat bragging right now.

But that bad arse UGA defense sacked him on 3 times. UT was already #3 in the country and #1 in the SEC prior to the game. After the game they are #1 for Sacks in FBS and leading SEC in TFL’s.

Garner is good. At least a top 3 resume in the nation.
I dont know of many that can teach and recruit effectively and stay put for the duration.

The stats are a little misleading. Etienne had good game, not disputing that. Without the Etienne 65 yard TD, Florida averaged 2.8 yds a carry.
43 carry, 183yds, 4.3yds per carry( 62yd rush)
42 carry, 121yds, 2.8yds let carry
Looks a lot different when you take away that 1 play where 3 open field tackles was missed. A lot of things didn’t go in the Vols favors in Gainesville, it never does that’s why the Vols haven’t won in Gainesville in 21 years now. Tennessee losing in Gainsville this year was more about what the Vols didn’t do than what UF Florida actually did. Including the refs also.

Only because Terry Price went to Heaven.
But he’s definitely getting better production.
