What "compensation" are they referring to? I could see if the cost of tuition was considered compensation but the Ivy League doesn't have athletic scholarships.

The argument that NIL is not tied to athletics is incredibly weak — to the extent that arguing the contrary carries legitimate legal weight.

NIL not being tied to atheltics is just a verbal claim. The NCAA has rules against inducement, but that doesn’t mean indicuement isn’t the norm.

Paying them isn't the end but unionizing is?

Unless you're rich you're going to get an academic scholarship at most Ivys. There's a reason the endowments are in the tens of billions.

And it depends greatly on how you define 'rich.' Most of the people on this board would be able to go to Harvard tuition free if they could get in. The measure for paying zero tuition is above 6 figures.

Give me good laws/policies/practices any day over Unions and the concept of “collective bargaining” life is never completely fair but Unions do tend to exist to serve themselves(kind of like the NCAA…) and the few times they’ve helped do not outweigh the overall damage they’ve done to our economy over time.
