Auburn legend passes

A great man! Very sudden and unexpected death.

He was a SEC Referee for many years and would tell stories of the bottle throwing days in Tiger Stadium running in off the field if LSU lost. We tried to bribe him for some calls when LSU played NC in Chapel Hill, but he was straight up and laughed us off! A solid man who raised some great boys.

RIP Tommy

Great player too. Star of Auburn's 1957 National Championship team and led the nation in rushing in 1956

Was a remarkably under appreciated legend of the SEC. He was a tremendous player and an all-around nice guy.

I still remember a block he threw against Georgia Tech (I think). The play was a cross-buck out of the T formation where there are 2 backs behind the QB and at the snap the QB turns his back to the LOS and 1 back crosses in front of the QB, and either takes a handoff or carries out a fake handoff while the 2nd back crosses the other way and does the same thing(the backs' routes look like an "X"). Lorino was the 1st back and the ball was faked to him. As he went into the line, the linebacker stepped into the hole for the tackle. All of a sudden, Lorino threw a perfect cross body block and completely blew the guy out of the hole, while the 2nd back (with the ball) ran untouched about 70 yards to the endzone. It stuck in my mind because I'd never seen that block used except on kickoffs and punt returns. I wish that someone could find the play and put it on here...it was a perfect play.

He old. If he saw it in person & can remember it, he'd have to be 65+.
