I know people will probably try to troll Barnes and Tennessee for me posting this, but just in case any Texas fans wanted to see some old highlights, I'm putting this here. Barnes is one of the last old-school guys and will probably be retired this year or next. I have been mad at him too many times to count, but I will miss him when he is gone. Besides Pat Summitt and Neyland, I don't think we have had a better face to represent Tennessee.
I just truly think Rick Barnes is one of the nicest, most genuine coaches we have had in the SEC.

Gee shucks he may be a good ole boy and all, but please tell me you're not under the impression that he's run a clean program over the years.
It's impossible to recruit the caliber of player he has over the last 40 years with room, board, and tuition alone.

I cant speak to his young years at Texas but at Tennessee I dont think he cheated at all.
Either way he has been a coach for 40 years and has never been in trouble with the NCAA. That’s impressive given his decent success and never having the blanket protection of a blue blood program

Absolutely! I have a lot of respect for him and think he is a class act coach. I haven’t watched it yet but I hear it’s really good.

I know you're trying to hurt my feelings, but his record against A&M has nothing to do with this joke.
When Billy Gillespie was being interviewed by Kentucky, Barnes announced he was withdrawing his name from consideration when evidently he was never even contacted by Kentucky. Has nothing to do with his coaching ability/success against A&M or anyone else. It's just anecdotal and makes the title of the documentary amusing.

I never cared a bit about basketball but I liked his personality when he was at Texas. He was never going to win a title at Texas or anywhere else but I always liked him.

You need to attend an EYBL tournament and chat up a few of the EYBL HCs or some of the actual HS assistant coaches between games.
They LOVE to talk shop. During your conversation with them, ask them if they think Barnes program has illegally paid players at Tennessee.
If they're drinking something, make sure your not standing in front of them, because they will project that fluid out of their mouths as they LAUGHINGLY answer you.
I'm truly not trying to make fun of you, but you're a perfect example of how the NCAA and more importantly the media can shape your view of who's clean and who isn't. You can win big, or you can run a clean program. But you CANNOT do both.
BTW, I had an assistant at Huntington Prep (WV) tell me years ago point blank that Duke and Coach K were the WORST offenders. Are you surprised to hear that? I bet you are.

Im not sure what i just read but all ill say is that Barnes signed one blue chip recruit at Tennessee before NIL became a thing. That leads me to believe that not much cheating was going on. He also wasnt very successful prior to NIL at Tennessee

He's been successful everywhere he's been.
He signed Kevin Durant at Texas, who was a top 5 player nationally and certainly not a 3 star. Do you have any doubt Kevin was paid to go there? I guess Rick cheated at places BEFORE he got to Tennessee and then stopped once he arrived in Knoxville?
I'm not gonna check their HS ranking, but he had Elden Campbell and Larry Nance at Clemson back in the day, who were both fantastic players. I guess they chose Clemson and turned down all the other schools offering to pay them?
