What a difference a few years makes. Now Kentucky fans would be overjoyed to have him and the barners are on their knees praying he goes elsewhere.

Not really. I still think he’s overrated. At least by Bama fans.

The word we have is that UK asked talk to Oats and Byrne said no and he would not renegotiate the buyout. So we have never actually talked to him. It was a non starter. Plus the divorce going on. If we get a no from Donovan then paying that buyout isnt really an issue anymore. So, who knows. You're not out of the woods yet Alabama.

Wow! If he's overrated then what does that make Pearl? Nate Oats is 6-4 vs Bruce Pearl. He's won 2 regular season SECC and 2 SEC tourney's.
He's been to the Sweet 16, with Bama, three times and now has a Final Four Run. He's overrated? LOL! GTFO.

I get not renegotiating the buyout but how common is it for an AD to refuse to allow another school to contact a coach?

Based on what metric? What would he have to do to not be overrated?
3 Sweet 16s & a Final Four in the past 4 seasons, plus two conference titles & two conference tournament titles.

Its pretty common. The asking the ad is out of courtesy and then the agents talk.

You're not getting an argument from me. I think Pearl is a great coach but I also think Nate Oats is a great coach as well. Unlike most Auburn fans, I have a modicum of objectivity when it comes to AU sports.
