The SEC being the best conference benefits all of our programs equally.

ldeally, if your conference has a better showing, recruits will stay/flock to your conference rather than going out, pushing the likelihood your team is better the next go around.

Because during the late 1990s and '00s the media, who had solid control on perceptions of teams were biased against the SEC or at least less accepting of how they were superior to other conferences. The media was far more biased towards the Big Ten and PAC-10. The SEC teams would get over looked in the rankings. See Auburn 04. They way that was remedied was by fans banding together with the "SEC, SEC, SEC!!!" chants. It opened eyes and brought notice or at least an expectation that more attention would be given to the underrated SEC. The rest is dominant history.

I guess IF your conference competitors do good in the spotlight it might reflect on the league as a whole.

IF you want the best league, you should sort of want the rest of these teams to win when out of conference.

I don’t cry when any team wins or loses, but I think the rational reason to pull for the “league” is it might help a fourth team get in the 12 team playoff one year.

Most on here are old school and remember when the SEC was fricked by the AP polls from Northern and Pacific city sports writers. Overlooked for mediocre B10 and PAC10 teams year end and year out.

It’s more regional loyalty. Our beliefs, lifestyle, etc. is more similar. With that said, I hope UGA loses and TCU wins the Natty.

If you play in a conference it's only natural for you to want that conference to dominate

1. Because conference strength matters and helps all of us.

2. Because we're all from the South and frick everyone that ain't us.

3. The rest of the country has a bias against us, so why not have bias against them?

Like others have said. LSU barely made the championship in 03, Auburn was left out undefeated in 04, UF barely made it in 06 I think it was. There were calls to let a rematch of um and osu instead of uf.

Then the sec went on a crazy run.

bama and UGA both have championships they would otherwise probably not have if the sec was not as highly looked at.

LSU probably got some benefit in 07 as well.

Aggies have benefitted recruiting wise because the SEC has a reputation. Are you dumb?
