Pay him. 7mil is going to be the baseline for top 20 coach in 5 years, go ahead and pony up.

Makes no sense to pay that now just to bid against ourselves in 5 years. Kiffin can't get FAU to match any Arkansas offer. There isn't a damn thing Kiffin can't do that Gus can.

Aub fans wouldn't be saying "let him go" if they'd won the game last night...
Nope but if he can't have his team ready every week then he ain't worth that much. Had he won then it would be looking like he finally got his shite together.

IMHO, this is just Sexton doing what he does. Malzhan wants better than Saban money for far less than Saban results. F that shite. Aubby keep him.

We don’t fricking want him for that kind of money. He can go frick himself if true

If you want him as your coach, why do you give a shite what they pay to get him? You’re not having to contribute to his paycheck.

I don't understand this either. Most of our fan base admits we are better off if he stays, but then turn around and act like they have to pay his contract. PM on 247 just posted something that makes me believe his gut says Auburn isn't going to give Gus what he wants.

It will be plug and play next year. AU coaches have a history of doing extremely well early in their careers.

Yeah, Les Miles would be a wonderful coach at Auburn.

Yeah, Kiffin couldn't stand living in Tuscaloosa, how is he going to stomach living in Arkansas?

Because he's trying to exploit the situation of finally beating out rivals for the first time in a few years into a top-5 payday. He didn't win the SEC, he's not going to the playoffs, and he still has a losing record to our rivals. He doesn't deserve more than Urban Myer. AU would do just as well with Kiffin, and for a lot less money.

. Pay them a low base salary with bigtime incentives for wins and championships

Exactly this.
$500K per P5 win
$250K per non-P5 FBS win
$100K per FCS win
$1M bonus for a conference title
$1M bonus per playoff win

There is literally no reason to believe this...none. I am also on record as saying if Gus bolts we should get Kiffin. Still there is zero chance it won't set us back. We aren't climbing up onto the top of a 5000 square foot deck at Lake Martin. We are trying to climb to the top of a mountain that has room for about 3 footholds...switching coaches hurts you 99% of the time.
