We got our coach out of the bargan bill on double coupon day. Sure he's scratched and dented and barely speaks English, but he's ours and we will rally around him until we loss to another mid-major.

He will get a new contract for about half that (maybe 24 mil at 6 per year for 4 years) and stay at AU.

Instead, he's given the coy answers of how he'd LIKE to stay at Auburn, makes demands to Arkansas, makes demands to Auburn, etc. If he stays now, he's that much closer to being fired after flirting with the next door neighbor and losing big time in Atlanta. I think he's gone.

Fans are fickle. If he managed 10 wins again next season or won the SEC this would be forgotten. If he is fighting for facility upgrades and more money for his coaches and staff as well I don't have any issue with it. If he only gets himself a raise I personally believe this is hurting our team...I don't have a problem with him leveraging success for more control and freedom...I don't have a problem paying him on a similar level with Mullen and Fisher, he's earned that. I do have a problem with him simply looking out for #1 without using this leverage to help him become more successful.

How many Waffle Houses are there in Arkansas? That's a lot of biscuits and gravy.

I thought Arkansas had money to burn like A&M and Big Tex?

We’ve got plenty of money but why pay the price for a bone in ribeye when you’re getting expired great value bologna?

Well you just paid good money to get rid of a ham hock so bologna might not be so bad.

I don’t want the ham hock back but at least in foodland i could make some good greens with it, I’d just throw the bologna in the trash.

If he does it means Arky isn’t real. He already asked AU for 6 years at 36 mil and for some autonomy.

He wants people like Harbert to stop butting in and saying shite like this to Chip - in front of Malzahn - “if he’s not letting you call plays then you let ME know”. Even joking that constant BS along with the perpetual hot seat means Gus wants more than 4 yrs at 24 or he’s gone

I think he gets 6 yr 39m and goes to Arky

Salaries are going through the roof.

This is setting up as a lose/lose for college football. Paying that much, coaches better win, but huge buyouts make it harder to let them go.

How much has been paid in buyouts in the SEC alone this year?

Wrong. Arky offer is there. Gus has already shown he is not about the money. He took half of Kentucky's offer as head coach to go to Arky State after the 2011 season.

Nope. I already posted on the AU board 90% he stays at AU for much less than Arky is offering.

Check this out. In 2005 he made less than 100k as a HS coach. Maybe 200k during his first season at Arkansas. Double that at Tulsa.

Talk about meteoric wealth

That would apply to every head coach.
