I like this hire. Our offense should be better, recruiting should be better, but I still worry about our defense.

Does Venables not like Dabo or something? I don't see why he would leave Clemson for Arky DC job. That is a step back.

Who knows. I know it's a shite ton closer to an area he knows and closer to the place he likes to recruit. We'd probably have to pay him $2M/yr

That is a lot of money........It's just Clemson has built a juggernaut. They are picking and choosing recruits there. IF he really wants to be a HC, I think the path would be easier at Clemson.

Well, we saved about $3.5MM per season hiring Morris instead of Gus. We have the cash to hire Venables.....if he had the desire to leave Clemson. Morris and Venables would have to be buddy buddy like Pittman and Chaney. Only way I could see him leaving a team that's in the CFP every season for another DC job.

It’s a decent hire . Better then Bert but It will be tough for him to win in the West with the better programs all having better HCs other then LSU . It could be a long process.
