Wait, running out of the Pistol or Shotgun is now "gimmicky"?

We've been running the majority of our stuff out of the Pistol or Shotgun since 2012 homeslice.

That's about when it started. Saban brought in Saban to run the same offense that has traditionally given Bama trouble.

Yeah, pretty sure running one back power runs and play action passes out of the Shotgun with 3 WR, 1 or 2 Tight Ends and a RB

That's what Auburn has done for years. Are you suggesting that Bama fans have only criticized Auburn's offense because it was up tempo? Is it the fact that a team runs plenty of plays that makes an offense gimmicky?

I assume you mean Kiffin, but we were running the majority of our offense out of the Shotgun all of the Nuss era. Kiffin came in to make us more explosive, which he did.

Yes, I am 100% suggesting that. The critique was that Auburn's offense was entirely based on stopping other teams from subbing via tempo.

I always rejected that notion as Gus' original offense was as power based as any other. It was the wishbone out of the shotgun at hyper speed. However, our current offense has zero similarities to that outside of lining up in the shotgun.

Here's where Auburn ranked the last 4 years in plays per game:

2014: 66 (Bama at 72)
2015: 86 (behind bama)
2016: 67 (behind bama)
2017: 36

Look, my dude. Your thread is predicated entirely on a lack of understanding of A) what kind of offense we run, B) what kind of offense Auburn runs and has run and C) which aspects of B caused such a flap in the beginning.

There's no shame in admitting that your little troll thread fell flat on its face. There's always tomorrow.

Since 2010 here's where Auburn ranks in plays per game:

2010: 54
2011: 107 (behind bama)
2012: 124 (behind bama)
2013: 62
2014: 66 (Bama at 72)
2015: 86 (behind bama)
2016: 67 (behind bama)
2017: 36

But sure, it was the up tempo aspect that drew criticism from your fanbase.

You know, I'm not sure at this point. He's bailing water out of this thread as quickly as he can, but more keeps rushing in.

I think he's exhibiting a lack of understanding of how no-huddle offenses are used.

At this point, it actually seems like you believe that the core idea of a HUNH offense is to run every single offensive snap without huddling in an attempt to run as many plays as humanly possible in four quarters.

So many people are going to regret so many things they've said. But this gem reveals such an insanely low football IQ it will take years for him to grasp it. Regardless of who wins, this is weapons grade stupidity.

Yeah, that's not how it works. The way Auburn utilizes the HUNH is that it will substitute sparingly, get the play from the sideline while at the line of scrimmage, and then run said play. If the play picks up four or five yards, they rinse and repeat. If the play gains huge chunks of yards, Malzahn will more often than not tell his offense to increase their tempo until they are stopped for a shorter gain.

You realize I wasn't the first one to use the plays per game stat in this thread, right?

If you have a problem with the plays per game stats as it relates to up tempo offenses, take it up with George.

Actually it was magildachunks who first brought it up. George was merely responding to him.

Yea, Auburn hasn't run their hurry up tempo since Marshall left. Gus even changed OCs to "modernize" his scheme. It's pretty common knowledge.

By posting Bama's plays per game.....to prove Bama doesn't run an up tempo offense.
