the words “shall not be infringed” are pretty fricking clear, but it hasn’t stopped the feds from doing just that since 1934.

That's a weird way to say most abused.
Although I would say the general welfare clause is the most abused. Or "elastic" as you say.

have serious doubts that requiring proof of vaccination to cross state lines is something that would be upheld by the SCOTUS (especially this particular SCOTUS),
The NFL has already mandated that all league employees must be vaccinated.

Who? Newsmax?
No.
But your post is a sad reminder that people in this country no longer understand that the systems being pushed as "progressive" aren't actually new anything.
Does it really matter who posted the article? Or does it even matter if it's true, which I'm assuming it won't happen.
Shouldn't we all be having the same reaction to this kind of shite? I mean how far do people have to take team sport politics to just ignore the type of things that can happen with this line of thinking.
If it was Trump trying to make these types of things, would your opinion be different? For me, I don't give a shite who is president or whatever, this kind of shite is a HUGE no no and the very thought of it should outrage everyone.
Do people not realize that every time you give up something, it's not just the current guy you are giving the power to? It's them and every other future president/government etc.

That's an employer. Totally different scenario than a blanket application to the entire population.

I sometimes wonder if people are real anymore. Like how can people be this dumb about politics.
It's like when you are being trolled, only it's shite that's got to be real.

You probably think CNN is actually news and not pure propaganda.

It's their right as a business etc. I think it's dumb, but it's a whole other thing than the government doing it.
You can opt out of a business. Government is used so you can't opt out.

Aside from the fact that the SCOTUS has said that the general welfare language in the Preamble confers no legislative authority on Congress. In a decision regarding vaccines. From 120 years ago.

I'm not aware of a mandate that all people must be vaccinated. Are you?

Sure it does and the content/sources inside matter even more

The problem is both sides are doing it. The exaggerations never end.

No because I'm loyal to the people in this country as a whole more than any party. BTW what do you think my opinion is? Did you just assume because of my joke?

It is time to impeach the potted plant.
If they think checking "passports" at state lines is going to fly, then we need a revolution and "removal" of our elected officials

What the frick do you think this thread is about? OP linked Newsmax, which is a source so dubious it might as well be completely ignored, but that doesn't have any bearing on the legitimacy of a hypothetical ban on interstate travel by the unvaccinated.

I don't really care what SCOTUS says in general to be honest. I mean they have their role and say in the government and that can't be ignored. But when it comes to the constitution, they aren't the end all on what it's supposed to mean, or the spirt of it.
They are at the end of the day people who ignore the spirit and purpose and look at things in the most literal and ignorant way possible to suit their own biases. Thus why it's such a big deal for who gets to name them, so that the right biases can be applied.
The spirit of it, and how it should be, is that the amendments are where you promote the general welfare, and the general welfare clause gives congress the explicit power it needs to carry them out.
Where as the general welfare clause is used for special groups, if done properly and added as an amendment, it applies to everyone automatically.
For example, the issue of healthcare. Under the general welfare clause abuse, only special people are afforded this right. People like me, for the most part do not qualify.
But watch this magic.
Add an amendment that says something along the lines of basic healthcare is to be provided etc. And BOOM, just like that it applies to every citizen automatically. No special rights, no special groups, everyone.
But that is how the constitution is supposed to work. Not that anyone gives a frick anymore.

If you believe this, you’re an idiot.

It's not just 2 sides. In fact, the overwhelming majority of people don't fit on either side, but we are pigeon holed into by the media.
