Heinz Ward must be a god to you.

mo claiborne started as a wr then was moved to db
Didn't he make the switch in his true freshman year during fall camp?
It's not like he spent an entire year at WR, then changed to DB.

i think he spent half of his freshman year on offense then switched. His first game to play corner was against bama '09

Nutt moved Marshay Green from WR to CB and he was a staple of the 08 and 09 defenses that were good.

Robert Edwards @ Georgia was a DB they converted to tailback due to a rash of injuries, he was drafted by New England in round one, injured himself at some Pro Bowl function and never recovered enough to relevant
Beat me to it.

That sucks, they need to just get rid of the pro bowl all together.

Pretty sure Marshay made an NFL squad as well. He was a mean looking motherfricker

Edwards got hurt playin' touch football on the beach in some made for TV seven on seven type game, which they did away with. In so far as SEC success with a postion change he is hard to beat, he was a starter as a DB until his senior year when he flipped to Tailback

If you count Honey Bear as a "switch" we can count Claiborne. We all knew where Honey Bear was going to end up, and the fact he was even listed as a RB was to "give him a shot."
He was never going to be a RB

Devery Henderson played an entire year at running back before being switched to wr. He was the number 4 running back in the south coming out of high school, played his freshman year at LSU at running back before being switched to WR, where he caught the bluegrass miracle, won an ESPY, was second-team all SEC and holds the single season receiving TD mark for LSU. He also had a national championship his senior year and has a Superbowl ring as well. Not too shabby.

Corey Webster was a QB in high school and was recruited as a WR. The rest is history.

Chase Clement was a DE and now he is our best TE.

JC Copeland's HS footage is scarey.

Took the opposite route from Kyle Kipps.
1998 Freshman All SEC as TE. Started at DE to end the 2001 season. LSUSports.com

JC Copeland switched from DE to Fullback
Best part of the Copeland switch is this: Dooley mad about Copeland playing FB at LSU
ETA this quote from DD:
quote:
"We were begging to get him (Copeland) when I got here," Dooley said. "We were begging to have him at nose guard and we lost him to LSU where's he's really rolling as a second-team fullback. That's what they (LSU) are.

He was a JR. Then he himself got hurt against UT in 95. Which resulted in a RS year. So he was the starter in 96 and 97.

do you guys really think he was given a chance at RB
Yes. I would not say this if i didn't know it to be true.
J Fowler was also projected as a better LB than RB. He will never be the 1st string RB at Bama.

OP- Smelly was a QB moved to TE.

Wasn't Marcus Spears recruited as a TE, started there, and switched to DE? Also Joseph Barksdale was a DT and switched to OT.
