If Kiffin is fine building a roster from the portal every year, why won't he just sign your extension and move on?

How long ago?

Only Lane knows why Lane does what he does.

Genius sometimes looks like madness.

I know one thing, he was always a better coach than Brian Kelly.

Lmao.

So basically, here's your argument:

It's a new world because Indiana can win a B1G championship, which they've only done twice before.

Maybe they just finally hired a good coach and had a bit of a fortuitous schedule. Contrary to popular belief, Indiana didn't bring in a ton of great portal talent. Their portal class in conference was 8th last year and 7th this year.

That's compared to #3 and #2 under their previous head coach, and most of those players are no longer there.

So they're actually bringing in less portal talent now and winning many more games.

Well we know they hired a good coach.

And we know they finally started paying players. And we know they have deep deep pockets most blue bloods dream of having.

And we know they have used the portal to buy a top 10 team.

And we know that prior to NIL and portal they were a terrible program for over 50 years.

These things we know for sure.

They have the least talented team in their conference, ten years ago, they were 11th out of 14.

Why does paying players suddenly get them worse players?

As indicated above, these actually weren't super talented players.

But they do have a top ten team.

Results actually matter.

Anyone can have a top ten team, if they have the right coach and right schedule. Ten years ago, Stanford, Baylor, Iowa, and Michigan State were top 10 teams. Were you saying everything had changed back then too?

Talent/recruiting rankings aren't the end all/be all but they do matter.

Exactly, and it isn't even like it's something they've never did before

You probably didn’t think in the preseason, or the end of September, that it was a “down” year. L3U was ranked top five. Proclaiming a “down” year just fits your narrative to cover five losses.

Well yeah, losing 5 games is literally a "down year".
