He knows that this model is not sustainable to get where he wants to get- win a NC.

He's about to be 11-1 and on his way to the CFP, though the distractions surrounding his imminent departure are likely going to cause him some problems this week. Nevertheless, Ole Miss could very well be undefeated right now if not for them letting the game get away from them in Athens.

While the model may not be sustainable, it's worked pretty well for him the last three years.

Last year was supposed to be the year, this year we barely had any talent at all and here we are.

Nothing but three stars. Quarterback unheard of, running back three star, no outstanding wide receivers, no outstanding defensive studs, offensive line was the biggest question mark and still is.

Ole Miss fans keep saying this but the 247 Team Talent Composite actually ranks the 2025 roster higher than the 2024 roster.

And yet you fired your coach with a higher rated portal class than us, and all these back-to-back top five recruiting classes, tell me again why he would want to go to LSU? Fired your coach after winning a national championship, fired your coach mid season... Yikes.

Well yeah, if you get everything to win and you don't, you're going to get fired.

Bro. Caleb Downs, Quinshon Judkins and Will Howard.

Does OSU win without those three? I’d argue they don’t.

Which is OP's entire point.

You have to recruit great high school classes as a base, and supplement through the portal.

All of these mostly portal, flash in the pan teams haven't actually won anything yet. Simpletons see them ranked high and assume parity has arrived when non power teams have always had good seasons here and there.

Texas Tech was actually better in the late 2000's than they have been in the NIL era.

But you can’t argue Ohio State’s usage of the portal is irrelevant. Which is what the poster I was responding to was arguing.

It's not irrelevant, it's only made the rich richer. They can develop their high school classes, people here incorrectly say that kids don't sit and develop anymore, but they do.

Then you can pluck a few high level players here and there.

The portal/NIL did not hurt elite programs like many seem to think.

I don’t think this season makes your point.

If your point was accurate, Penn State, Florida, Auburn and LSU wouldn’t all be looking for a new head coach.

Coaching changes have always happened.

Just like non power teams have always had good seasons.

I'd also argue that a lot of programs wouldn't have fired a guy like BK, with a .708 win percentage.

Sure. That’s what I’d tell myself if I was an LSU fan and half retarded.

I mean, they've literally always happened.

Why do Missouri and Ole Miss fans insist on deluding themselves?

You are wasting your time on him.

Sidewalk would tell you that nothing has changed even if Oregon (no NC in it's history) or aTm (hasn't won a NC in 70 years) win it.

Everything is the same as always.

To him, Indiana and Vandy having the best seasons ever is just nothing that hasn't happened before. He will ignore that they are beating teams they never have using portal transfers.

It is pointless to reason with a moron.

A&M and Oregon can absolutely win it this year, they've built contenders organically and just haven't had the right coach up till now.

You putting A&M and Oregon into the same conversation as Indiana and Vandy is a clear indication of ignorance.

Who are they beating that they never have?

Your confirmation bias has you absolutely blinded by reality.

Cool.

Indiana may win the B1G.

If you can win the B1G, you can win a NC.

It's a brand new world.

Oh really, how have those top 10 classes the past 4 years done LSU. Now look at the record of Ole Miss the past 4 years…..

It's such a brand-new world that your evidence of it is things that haven't actually happened.
