I agree, the learned southerners use butter and sugar or syrup. Those from a less advantaged lineage put salt, pepper, and all kinds of other shite in it

Ground corn with sugar in it is oatmeal, Pepsi is Coke, and tea with sugar is just tea.

I'm catching up.

No self respecting southerner puts sugar or syrup on fricking grits. You should be slapped across the face with an alligator tail wrapped in a confederate flag for even mentioning such nonsense

I didn't realize that yankees even ate grits. But I really don't know much about what they eat.

There are many great southern dishes - even in Missouri. Corn is just ok no matter how you us it. Grits is one of the worst. Over sweet tea is an abomination. Real southerners aren't proud of that shite.

Syrup only goes in that northern cream of wheat shite.

Grits should only have cheese, pepper, a tiny bit of salt, and a little bit a butter. Scrambled eggs( cheesy of course), and sausage/bacon/other meat are acceptable as well. Anything else in it is not acceptable.

You Missouri folks need to visit the food and drink board on this site. If y'all want to learn a thing or two about cooking, go there and just pay attention. I'm convinced that people from Louisiana either invented cooking or know who did.
