This.

I'm told Pac 12 officials are terrible though.

From earlier this year:

quote:

Pac-12 football officiating long has had a bad reputation -- and not just from OU fans who remember the 2006 Oregon game or OSU fans who remember the 2012 Arizona game.

Just last October, the Pac-12 coordinator of football officiating resigned. Tony Corrente cited personal and professional reasons. But it came after a rough two weeks in which Pac-12 officiating again was called into question.

Pac-12 commissioner Larry Scott defends his league's officiating but also acknowledges the reputation. "I definitely think there was a big perception gap between what gets reported and the reality," Scott said last week at the Pac-12 spring meetings.

quote:

Truth is, the Pac-12 reputation is one of the few blights on college football officiating. College basketball is rampant with differing styles and philosophies. College football rarely has had that kind of stigma. But various conferences doing things differently can't be a good thing.

Officiating is what it is. They do an okay job but there have been more and more WTH calls in the last two to three years. I wish the replay would be done away with, they still end up getting the call wrong.

.....and the ACC fans say the same thing about ACC officials.
.....and the B12 fans say the same thing about B12 officials.
.....and the B10 fans say the same thing about B10 officials.

And on it goes.

why can't they put more refs on the field? seems like that would be an easy way to make the officiating better.

They are the best at what they do. Idiots everywhere forget that officials see things in real time and at different angles than TV.

Football officiating ain't all that bad. Basketball is the worst in the NCAA.

For the record if you look at the game Thread both UK and Miss State hated Ritters Crew about the same. So it is not just LSU fans that dislike him.

They've been bad in both long before Shaw.

Ritter and his crew damn near made the UK/MSU game this weekend unwatchable reviewing virtually every catch in the first half. And then completely defying the "must be sufficient video evidence" part of replay by overturning calls without sufficient video evidence because they fricked it up so bad in real time.

When the rules allow for that much leeway for a ref in making a call, it's going to be a shitshow with the current crop of college officials. It's not just an SEC issue unfortunately.

What makes them so bad in basketball and football? Is Steve Shaw that bad?

I'd like to think it was just their low IQ and poor vision. Not money changing hands.
