Tua Tagovailoa, in his first year and half before the injuries started mounting, may have been the best Alabama qb in my lifetime, but Kenny Stabler may have been the best ever all around. Some would say Joe Namath, and I have read he was an awesome dual threat before a knee injury. Both those guys are in the NFL Hall of Fame.
edit: I just learned that Alabama has more NFL Hall of Fame qbs than any other team.
Starr
Namath
Stabler

You really put Burrow at 11? Sheesh

Probably brain damage from that Bama game.

Not Tarkenton for us
Also did you forget that you said you were ranking them 1-14? The positioning of pretty much everyone you listed is wrong

Put some respeck on my boy Connor Shaw’s name right now. Steve Taneyhill my arse.
Posted on 8/6/22 at 9:25 am to JetDawg
I would rate Conner Shaw, Stephen Garcia, Phil Petty and Jeff Grantz above Taneyhill.

Brandon Allen is Arkansas best QB the last 20 years.
Joe Ferguson is our best QB all time

Bryce young has a ring already dipshiite, will prob be chosen #1 overall. If u mean winning a ring as a starter then dont wrry thats coming this year.
So does Paul Tyson. It doesn't really mean shite if you weren't playing as far as discussions like this go.
I can only guess you are 12 by this comment, especially if you think a national championship is guaranteed.

Conner Shaw
He is the best I've ever seen at USC. 27-5 as a starter; 18-0 at home. 3 x 11 win seasons and never lost to Clemson.

Good lord. Did you read this shite before you posted it?

would not put Bryce in there until he finishes. To me, if I'm going into football battle, I want Mac Jones.

Shaw had Spurrier as a HC and played when the West was dominant.
Tanneyhill had Brad Scott and played when the East was a monster.
There’s are slight differences in quality there.

Someone Turing Tebow at 1 is fine. I don’t agree but there is absolutely an argument.
Not having the top 3 be some ordering of Burrow, Newton, and Tebow is laughable.
What is laughable is the board not realizing the list is alphabetical by school starting with the East Division.

Then it shouldn't have been worded like:
quote:
Taking the best QB from each SEC school and then ranking them from best, #1 to #14.

Agreed. That is not laughable, it is stupid.

I read it as "best SEC QB in the SEC", meaning not including games outside of the SEC (especially weighing any NFL experience.)
Which also means that for my school, Mizzou, Chase Daniel was ineligible for this list.
I also think people get too caught up in stats. QB's didn't throw near as often prior to the 80's, but that doesn't change how talented they were compared to their peers.

Bad take.... Bryce young did more with less around him last year than any qb in the saban era.. and to the poster who referred to my age there have been 9 NCs for bama in my lifetime, im just confident in this team. They can be historic

For State it could be Jackie Parker or Dak Prescott. For some info on Parker click below:
That's a good piece of history. I'd vote Dak Prescott but only one MSU qb holds a major SEC record, Nicky Fitz.
