oh it took something that happened 7 years ago under a different coach and Ad to make it happen? when it was just a money laundering scheme and not pay the players scheme?

wtf? be better chad, be better. Plenty of shite to pick on LSU about, we fricking suck for gods sake, but the 2019 season had nothing to do with shite.

I agree. If Bama destroys the playoff field in the same manner lsu did last year, they 100% deserve to be crowned the greatest of all time.

Bama leading ND 49-7 at the half would be amusing.

A lot is made about this but Alabama’s schedule wasn’t even better this year than LSU’s last year, WITH the Bon P5 schools we played. That’s how bad the SEC is this year

lsu gave up: (rank of opp offense) points given up

#2) 41 Points
#4) 25 Points
#6) 28 Points
#17) 38 points (first game)
#28) 20 points
#29) 28 points
#49) 10 points
#62) 7 points
#65) 6 points
#70) 3 points
#74) 13 points (Mississippi state the mighty SEC school, below Georgia Southern and Utah State)
#81) 37 points (Ole Miss also below)
#110) 20 Points (Arkansas too?? Wow)
#125) 38 points (obvious outlier not to mention 2 touchdowns not given up by defense)

Which means LSU played an average of the 52 ranked offense in the country

Alabama on the other hand:

#11) 46 Points
#13) 48 Points
#34) 24 points
#39) 17 Points (LSU is the 4th best offense that’s kinda sad)
#41) 24 points
#80) 19 Points
#86) 3 Points
#87) 13 Points
#107) 3 Points
#108)17 Points
#109) 0 Points

Alabama’s average offensive rank of opponent: 65

So Alabama played worse offensive teams than lsu while giving up far more points per game to the higher ranked offensive teams, who’s defense was better?

And I figured might as well look at offense as well

Offensively based on defensive rank of team played

Lsu: (rank of opp defense) points scored

#1) 37 Points
#3) 42 Points
#7) 42 Points
#13) 46 Points
#17) 20 Points
#39) 50 Points
#60) 58 Points
#64) 63 Points
#65) 45 Points
#70) 55 Points
#73) 36 Points
#90) 42 Points
#97) 66 Points
#124) 56 Points

Average 51 ranked defense played

Alabama:

#20) 41 Points
#27) 52 Points
#36) 42 Points
#47) 63 Points
#60) 41 Points
#63) 52 Points
#72) 48 Points
#85) 38 Points
#97) 52 Points
#99) 55 Points
#122) 63 Points

For an average of the #66 defense faced.

There is no way to slice it where Alabama has faced remotely tougher competition

Well done TT. Add in there the opt outs and the fact that there were no real road games (no crowds) for bama this year, and the asterisk for this season is even bigger. I do tend to agree with the sentiment that this may be Saban's best coaching job. Keeping his squad laser focused in this fricked year has been impressive.

"Oh we played all P5 schools!" Yea to a tune of 2 less games. If this alabama team had done what they are doing in a REGULAR year, Id put them in the conversation. But the whole year has been frickery from the onset. I hate it for the fans, but it is what it is.

The numbers posted above dont help the argument either.

Of course they did.

This season has just proven again to me how special last year was. Not just because of how good LSU was, but because of how EVERYTHING lined up the way it did. Having 7 top 10 teams on the schedule let alone beating them all, playing all 4 pre season top 4 and winning all of them, playing and beating NINE bowl teams. Like I said, if this bama team had done what they are doing in a NORMAL season, with the normal crowds, and the normal amount of games id have them in the convo of best ever. The SOS would leave a little to be desired, but still its impressive. If LSU hadnt done what they did last year, id give it to bama easily as much as id hate to. There are just too many fricked up factors from this year that water down what theyve done this year and it has to suck as a fan.

Your "stats" prove nothing. All of those rankings are skewed by conference only schedules, not just the two teams you're comparing. You take Portland State and Colorado State off the arkansas schedule and there are two opportunities for them to move up in offensive statistics. You can't argue that's easier than playing Georgia and Florida. Pointing at unit ranking between last year and this year is apples to oranges, there were no stat padder games this season. No Northwestern State or Rice or Utah State.

Despite that, bama still managed to beat everyone on the schedule by double digits. An incredible feat when you can't afford to let your guard down. A lesser team would've have 2, maybe even 3 single digit victories over the course of a season. We haven't seen this level of domination since 2001 Miami.

It's been great. This is the most dominant team since 2001 miami.

No 3, 5, or 7 point wins to be found in the regular season. All massacres. Like the Battle of Corinth, for fans of ancient Greece

I’m pointing out that a significant portion of SEC games WERE stat padder games, based on what we’re defined as stat padder games last year.

The SEC sucked this year, but sure parade around the all SEC schedule like it means something

Against a down conference from top to bottom. Thats the point.

Not sure why yall keep boasting about it. I think yall secretly know its true and just keep hoping that if you keep saying it, it'll become true...

The comparison between SOS last year and this fails because all of the SEC games this year were against each other. For every "great" statistical offensive performance by an SEC team there was by definition an equally "poor" defensive performance by an SEC team. You understand this don't you? Taking out the 56 out of conference games this year (most of which would be against inferior opponents) makes year over year statistical comparisons much less useful.

Agreed, but when I try to just state the simple fact that the sec was down this year for a number of other reasons, for example no spring practice, no early OOC games to fix mistakes, opt outs, missing players due to Covid, and other stuff like that, as well as simply just by watching the games and using my eyes.

I am told by Bama fans that stuff doesn’t matter and only stats matter

So I pulled stats. Some people are able to hold discussions and others are just trolls. It is what it is

Meh nearly half of your schedule was against first year head coaches.

Then you had historically bad LSU who fired basically their entire staff, Auburn who fired their coach, and Tennessee who seems to be on the cusp.

Aggie was a good win on paper but they're another team who was able to take advantage of a down year in the conference.

The Georgia win looks good but they were playing without a bunch of players.

Other than that, you have squeaking by Merlins & Co in a game that many predicted to be a blowout.
