Honestly, I just didn't want to sound like a homer. I just think it's pathetic we can't sell out most of our big games

State averaged less than 6k per game according to the NCAA numbers. UF was around 11k per game.

Vandy was at 13k per game.

UT was at 19k

2010-2011 numbers

Arkansas averaged over 2 x as many fans as State.

And we've sucked for several years.

Those numbers surprise me. I thought UF's was way worse for some reason. I didn't know State's was that bad. And I'm really surprised UT's was that good.

2. Arkansas
3. Tennessee
4. Vanderbilt
5. Florida
6. Bama
7-12. LOL

I stated my case for us last year... can you pull numbers from the previous years?

Also, our venue only holds 10,500.

I think a good gauge would be SEC Tournament attendance. I've been to 3 and State was very well represented. Arky is never very well represented, but they may get a pass because they are usually the furthest distance.

I agree with it except I would flip AU and Ole Miss

Probably right. They had to draw a curtain across half of their arena for a decade. Hopefully the new arena will help them embrace basketball.

Looking at the 2007 championship numbers, UF averaged 11.9K per game and the only non-sellouts seem to be the winter break games.

Tennessee was second in the league and top 5 nationally every year under Pearl. Every year between 19 and 20.5K.

The last year before Pearl got here we were third in the league with around 15K/game. This year I'd guess our average will be around 16-17K.

Unfortunately we probably won't either...Atlanta is quite a haul, especially for the Kansas City folks such as myself (14 hour drive).

I wish it was somewhere more central..(Memphis, Nashville, etc.)

Florida could not even sell out the ODome in national title years
You got this info where?? The O Dome is packed every game unless the students are away on holiday like last night for UofA Birmingham. I would say next to football were rabid with baseball climbing fast. For a football school this is unique in SEC!

Back in the day, our Basketball was the shiznit! Our football program sucked hard, so attention was focused on basketball. A home game at Walton (when it was first built) was absolutely thunderous. Taking a date to a game would surely 'seal the deal'. That having been said, I don't think the Arky fan base has near the passion it had in the past. I'd put them a little further down the list (perhaps #5 after Florida and Vandy).

Oh my, how the mighty have fallen. In a few more years, they may be back (if they spend the <cough>money</cough>).
