Saying he skipped practice. The conspiracy theory fans are saying he may have quit the team. All rumors at this point, but these radio guys don't usually dip into the rumor mill so who knows.

What I heard on ATL sports radio (Chuck and Chernoff) today is that some reporter from the OU school newspaper spied on practice with binoculars from a nearby building and broke a story that Rattler was getting all the 2nd Team Reps. The story pissed Lincoln Riley off enough to shut down all media access to the program until further notice.

Lets slow our roll here. Maybe he did, which would not look good under the circumstances. Maybe he had a good reason to not be at practice and it wasn't shared with the press. The kid might be at the sexual health clinic getting a shot for the clap for all we know.

I'm just saying at his age people tend to do some really stupid things. Lets find out if he did something really stupid before we hang him out to dry.

He has been on quite the roller coaster. Heisman frontrunner/future Top-5 pick to benched and looking to transfer in 6 weeks. Not making excuses but he is just a kid

He wasn't at practice on Monday.

There were rumblings on Monday that Rattler missed practice due to an illness. His father, Mike Rattler, told the Daily that the absence was cleared through Riley and that Rattler remains committed to the program.

It would really stupid of him to quit midseason after his team get's a big win. I wouldn't be surprised if he get's another chance this year at OU. Caleb Williams looked great against texas but they have a terrible defense. He is also one injury away from starting again.

What would that look like to pro scouts? I wouldn't be surprised if he transfers after the season is over.

Also read on instaslam that he doesn't show up in the OU student database.

Big if true. Back to you Tom.

If that's true, props to that reporter. The media up there hate him because he gives them zero access. I didn't know even their student media hates him too.

He's done nothing to earn the benefit of doubt and I think he's a major douche, but I believe if he quits now he won't lose a year of eligibility. May be much more to it than crying over getting benched mid-season. We shall see.

He's seems soft. So, I doubt he will transfer to the SEC. I bet it's a PAC team.

Is it because they’ve only played 6 games?

I forget is that the number that if you play less than it doesn’t count as a year?

The University of Oklahoma’s student newspaper went to great lengths this week to gather information about what Lincoln Riley plans to do at the quarterback position, and the ambitious reporting may have led to a media ban.

Oklahoma abruptly canceled all of its media availability on Wednesday and announced that there will be no more media access until after Saturday’s game against TCU. No reason was provided.

quote:

Most people believe the reason is fairly obvious. On Tuesday, the Oklahoma Daily published a story that included information from the Sooners’ practice and quotes from Spencer Rattler’s father. The second paragraph of the piece stated that reporters observed practice without permission.

“The Daily watched the offensive practice regimen from a public building near the OU football practice field, with no athletics employees discouraging observation,” the story reads. “The Daily does not observe practice regularly, but did so Tuesday under heightened interest given the situation.”
Rattler was benched during Saturday’s Red River Showdown against Texas and replaced by freshman Caleb Williams. The Sooners were trailing 38-20 at halftime, but they came all the way back to beat their rival in dramatic fashion. Naturally, that has led to speculation that Rattler will lose his starting job going forward.

There were rumblings on Monday that Rattler missed practice due to an illness. His father, Mike Rattler, told the Daily that the absence was cleared through Riley and that Rattler remains committed to the program.

Riley is almost certainly unhappy that the student paper watched practice without permission. If you remember, the Sooners took a drastic measure last year just to prevent students from spying on practice. That’s one of the reasons Wednesday’s news was not shocking.

This article first appeared on Larry Brown Sports and was syndicated with permission.

From DoUrden's link. It validates what the radio people said this afternoon.

4 games is the limit. But I suppose a race card could be played if they can find someone on campus that said something racially mean about him.
