I would buy you a beer if I could.

Don't know why people are pushing back on this.
Sure what he said wasn't technically racist, but if we were to draw a venn diagram of xenophobes and racists you could barely make out the two separate circles.

Would put money on this little Aurburnite having made a few racist comments in his life.

Let's make assumptions and jump to conclusions about people we've never met. Always a good idea.

Except this isn't an unfounded assumption.
Racism and xenophobia both are related. They both stem from an irrational fear, dislike, or prejudice against someone solely for being different.

Racism is also a common cause for xenophobia, and sometimes vice-versa. Obviously that's not the case for this specific scenario, but to act like they are completely separate concepts is naive.

Of course it is. He taunted an opposing player with a generic "Go back to x" comment. This happens all the time with "Go back to -insert state visiting team is from-.". The only difference in this case is that this guy was an import from another country. That in no way provides anything substantial enough for you to go out and start calling this dude a racist.

This is much more likely to be a taunting attempt with an oversight in the optics of the situation than having a seething xenophobic/racist manic on our hands. Especially on a college campus. Kids are stupid and often times speak before they think. The main point is no one has any way of knowing and slandering the guy over this is just as irresponsible and stupid as his taunt. You're overreaching for virtue signal brownie points. Stop.

He was immediately punished for his mistake and will likely receive more than what is even called for in this situation during his pending disciplinary hearing. That's more than enough.

Isn't that all we do here on tRant? Hell, forget the tRant, isn't that what we all do as a society these days?

America can't really trust the moral compass of black men and women from the hood.

See how stupid that is?

Except he's actually from Uruguay... and you clearly have no idea what racist means. Absolutely nothing about this is racist. Uruguayan isn't a race.

This bears repeating.

Of course
Says the racist that is calling out "white southern christian men and women" as not being able to be trusted to see real racism. You know... real racism, as in, that moving target that is re-defined to suit the powers that be on a weekly basis.

That ESPN led with this in a headline is amazing

Not only is it not racist, it's not even offensive. It's dumb, sure, but saying "go back to uruguay!" is like saying "go back to Canada" or "go back to Argentina"

It's not like it's a shithole, it's a great country
