Was reading some of the old stuff from the Alabama Rich Rod ordeal in light of Tennessee Schiano and stumbled upon this

"I just want you to know you've hired a horseshite football coach," Saban told Moore. "But nobody will out-recruit me."

Thought that would amuse some of you guys crying after the iron bowl about how Saban is a recruiter and not a coach

What does it say about the future of Bama's program that Saban is being out-recruited this year? Is the decline imminent?

He had just coached in the NFL for 2 seasons. Probably humbled him a bit. He's definitely not a bad coach by any means though.

We are only signing about 22 guys this year. If we end with a Top 5 class, it will be among his best recruiting efforts.

He isn't a coach in the sense that he is a great football mind IMO. He was never a high profile coordinator or anything.

He is a manager and a stickler for details. He surrounds himself with good people. He is a great recruiter. But he is more of a CEO type of coach which is way different than say guys like Mike Leach who are football geniuses.

Don't they only have 9-12 players committed?

Wouldn't it be safe to say the other 10-14 will be highly ranked and push Bama into top 5 or better?

^This. Saban is a brilliant CEO. He's also shown that there's more than one path to greatness.

So 9 wins with a 10th possible is a decline for LSU.

What is a decline for State?

He, along with Belichick, built and crafted a defensive system that he used and taught to this day.

He was a defensive mastermind. He has handed the reigns off more in the past few years to Kirby and now Pruitt, but the scheme they implement was created by him and BB.

His actual quote was “just letting you know I ain’t worth a shite without players”, which is translated “get me in front of the REC ASAP.”
