I'm still confused who you are preaching to here - none of us are melting over Justin Fields leaving. I have no problem with him moving on. It's his call.

I will say, he came to Georgia knowing Jake Fromm existed and was the starting QB. I'm sure he thought he'd show up and take the job, but he didn't and now he's giving up and running off. It's not the best look IMHO, and I'd want to know why he didn't stay and compete next year and want to be the starting QB in 2020/2021.

Much different than Hurts or Bryant who were overtaken by guys who showed up on campus and may leave to try and improve their stock for their last season.

He competed and he lost. He'd never have beaten out Fromm - especially since the coaching staff wasn't giving him what he needed most to develop into someone that could do that: real QB reps.

Is Tua not a competitor? He said would have left too in what was an almost identical situation.

Point: There is absolutely nothing wrong with Fields decision. He does what schools, coaches, and professionals do: he made the right business decision.

Can you name one instance where a QB sacrificed and stayed for no other reason than team loyalty and it worked out for him?

1. Tua
2. Hurts

Mitch Trubisky did it..

He wasn't even a top 200 recruit, and as a backup at North Carolina he wasn't exactly sought after as a transfer. Mitch was not a guaranteed starter anywhere.

I agree - which is why the transfer is understandable. However, he would be the QB in 2020 and 2021 (if he stayed his senior year). So, it's not exactly the same as some others who were clearly finished as starters (Hurts/Bryant/Chryst/etc).

If Jalen was a clear Top 50 NFL prospect and Tua sat behind him against this year knowing he'd be the starter next year? Not sure what he'd do.

I mean I don't disagree - nor do most people. The only people who seem chapped by his decision are a few Georgia people.

I would transfer if I were him and wanted to potentially be drafted in the first 5 rounds as a QB. Now he seemingly projects to be between the next Matt Cassel or Tayson Hill. With a good and full year of throwing, he may be able to do better.

He knew he wasn't promised the starting job, but he thought he was better than Fromm straight up and would win the job. It's reported during practices that they were both practicing about the same, and I honestly have to lean to the coaching staff there, if you have a well established QB, the backup will have to be twice as good to win things over.

He's leaving because he thinks he can get eligible immediately because of what a drunk student athlete was shouting.
