For everyone who thinks Fields is immature, selfish, getting bad advice, or a bad teammate for making this (correct) business decision I have a question.

Can you name one instance where a QB sacrificed and stayed for no other reason than team loyalty and it worked out for him?

Hurts isn’t staying next year. He’s still transferring. Sure it was nice to step up when called upon, but ultimately he’s not the starter, not helping his draft stock, and it’s not going to work out if he stays after this year.

Ryan Tannehill.

He was stuck behind other QBs so he moved to WR because we had major holes. He was an all conference WR before moving back to QB and winning the starting job once Johnson got hurt.

Are you asking how many QBs waited their turn and how many of those had success?

He did give a commitment to the university.

quote:

the state or quality of being dedicated to a cause, activity, etc. "the company's commitment to quality" synonyms: dedication, devotion, allegiance, loyalty, faithfulness, fidelity

He is a bit immature if he can not uphold what he said he would do. Maybe he did not fully understand what he was doing?

Is he not using racism as the reason why to transfer? Not saying that he was not a victim, but seems like a easy excuse to use in 2018.

What happens if this happens at the next school? It seems like this is more of a playing time issue versus hostile environment.

Jalen Hurts stayed for one reason and one reason alone: He was graduating. He made a business decision.

If he had transferred he wouldn't have gotten his degree and he would have had to sit out a year.

Now he has a degree, a full season of playing, and he'll transfer this year and start for another team.

Tom Brady lost plenty of money by ending up being drafted in the Sixth Round. He got lucky, but the decision to stay hurt him. Cassel ended up in the 7th round and lost out on millions of dollars. They got lucky to be drafted by the best organization in the NFL, but staying hurt both of those guys.

He didn't have to do that, though. He had an available redshirt year. Leaving right after Tua was named starter or leaving at the end of the year was no different. He stuck around to get better under Enos, to compete and because he wanted to be here.
