Will they hang a “better record than LSU since COVID” banner?

I think that one sign of being a really strong program is when one of your main rivals has to steal your coach. That shows, more than anything, that others are envious of what you have going on.

Haters will find something to hate about regardless.

I think a team needs at least a fairly recent conference championship and to have been a real contender for a natty, to be respected nationally.

You also need to have success under more than one coach.

If you beat my team you're respected and considered a threat. It's why LSU fans consider Ole Miss a threat and vice versa. It's why Alabama fans consider LSU a threat although they are loathe to admit it.

Bro, how many wins has LSU had vs Bama since 9-6 in 2011…it’s not loathe to admit a damn thing….there’s just nothing to admit to in the first place. WTF kind of example was that you used?

Because there's a difference between LSU and Alabama fans. For all of your success, your fan base can't really bring themselves to enjoy it. You only focus on the ones that got away. And more often than not, in recent memory, LSU (and Auburn to a lesser extent) have played the spoiler. Until we went divisionless, LSU was your biggest obstacle to reaching Atlanta every year. 2019 sticks in y'alls craw something awful. You can try to deny it all you want, but if we're having an honest discussion here, it tears you up. You have the historical record over us no doubt, but look no further than this board for which team stays in the consciousness of Alabama fans the most. I don't want this to turn into an LSU/Alabama pissing match so I won't respond further.

how big of a sample size of winning do you need to exhibit before you can become a respected program?

I don’t think UGA was a respected program under Mark Richt. Tenn, won in 1998, then LSU, UF, Bama, and Auburn all won in the 2000’s I don’t think UGA was looked at as a peer or a respected program until Kirby one his first, and even then I think it took the second one for people to respect us.

That's an excellent complex question.

I think my team ( Mizzou ) could win all the time and still be considered carpetbagging scalawags . It's a role that I've come to accept if not embrace.
We knew we were an ill fit in 2012 and remain so.

Would an SEC Championship make the perception change some ? Doubtful.

Anyway just my 2 cents.

It is impossible to be thought of in THE tier until you win a Championship of some sort. That’s something that has alluded my team for a good minute.

eluded

You just alluded to the reason being considered a top tier program has eluded Ole Miss.

Respected? Yes. Feared? Not quite, but definitely respected.

“2019 sticks in y'alls craw something awful”

Maybe it’s just me but it really doesn’t!! I mean not at all..blowing the huge lead against Auburn in 2010 still irks me..even more than the “kick six” but 2019 LSU doesn’t bother me at all. Like I said, could be just me

This is an honest answer and not a troll job:

Ole Miss's run the past few years has not been noteworthy at all. Without the Kiffin social media hype, it would hardly be a blip. You've amassed total wins but not significant wins. You haven't played in the SECCG and only made the playoffs in the expanded 12-team field.

That being written, it does not preclude the past few years from being a springboard.

Is Duke considered a Blue Blood Basketball Program? Their Arena seats less than 10,000 while Tennessee's seats over 20,000. Bigger isn't always better.

LSU doesn’t consider Ole Miss a “threat” we are a traditional geographical rival. This is very different than a threat.

However, I agree with others that y’all are respected more than Oregon.

Quit hanging your respect on what others think. Goodness knows I would never be Vandy fan if ridicule bothered me.
