Seems the Auburn wins happen in heartbreaking fashion for us Bama fans.
Its because it takes that kind of freak event for it to happen.
Theres an analogy to poker. Better players take bad beats more often because when they put the money in, they are usually ahead.

So do the wins count or not?
Count for what? They count the same in the standings as wins/losses against any other team. I would not trade Alabama's 20-20 record in the last 40 games for a 40-0 record and only six national championships for Alabama over that period instead of the seven actually won.
Disclaimer: I don't live in Alabama and have zero contact with any Auburn fans except on this forum. I might feel differently if I lived in Alabama.

Seriously, sometimes Olympic medalists can do more PR-wise for your university than FB or BB championships. Olympians can reach global audiences. Suni Lee has generated a ton of publicity for Auburn, nationally and globally. She is featured on magazine covers, Late night TV show appearances, DWTS, etc. Auburn gets mentioned regularly. Her future NIL deals should dwarf most other SEC NIL deals.
Caleb Dressel & Florida - I am sure he generates a ton of publicity for the Gators.
Mondo Duplantis & LSU - since he represents Sweden, it probably means somewhat less publicity for LSU. However, if Duplantis decided to compete for Team USA, the publicity would be enormous. It could rival LSU’s 2019 FB National championship (it’s probably to late for that now).
Football PR is limited to FB fans and some casual fans but sometimes Olympic gold medalists can also reach non-sports fans and completely different fanbases and audiences.

Their success is impressive, however, we’ve accomplished more than 80% of college football teams, and have certainly eclipsed the Mississippi schools by a wide margin.
How does it feel to have not won a conference championship since the Beatles broke up?
Bama has outperformed everyone.
We’ve actually beat them during the Saban era and have a more than single digit winning percentage against them.
Alabama being great does not make Auburn worse than Mississippi State.
Georgia can talk because they’ve owned us, but the rest of the league is no better off than we are with Alabama being the king of college football.
In my lifetime, we’ve been undefeated 3 times and won a national championship, and multiple conference championships.
Yes, Alabama has won more, but if not for Auburn, they likely win it again in 2013 and probably get in playoff in 2019.
Most SEC teams would trade their success for ours so I don’t feel bad about our profile.
Would I like to win at a Bama clip? Sure, but I’m sure honest fans of many teams would love to have Auburn’s football record in this league.

Baton twirling isn’t an Olympic sport, Sidewalk

Bama hasn’t always been this good. Presently, Alabama leads head to head 47-37-1.
This record is very misleading for at least 2 reasons.
1) Alabama and AU did not play for 40 years between 1908 and 1947. During this period Bama was number 2 in winning % nationally, AU was number 74 and from 1923-1947 Bama was #2 at 81% and AU #121 at 49%. Conservatively guessing, the record would have been something like 30-10 Bama. That would make the record 77-47.
2) Also, the draconian scholarship reductions that affected the program for 11 years ending after 2007 when Bama went 3-8 vs AU, whereas, since the series resumed in 1948, Bama's record excluding those 11 years has been 40-22, 65%. Meaning they would have typically won 7 games. So that's 4 more lost because of unusual, one-time circumstances since Alabama has not been on probation before or after. During that time the NCAA reduced scholarships which was not what they've done historically.
The record is what it is but there are mitigating factors from Bama's POV and their record would typically be something like 81-43.
Having said that, AU has done a great job of "hanging in there" and winning almost every time except 09 & 14 that they've had a chance since Saban got it rolling in '08. Many Alabama fans overlook the fact that they've had some very good teams. 2 of the 4 losses since 08 were to AU teams who played for the NC and a 3rd for the SECC.

We just beat them 4 times in a 10 year period. Of course AU did it during Bama's best run in their history, so your job isn't near as hard.
You have done better than most but you are 3-7 in the last 10 years and 4-9 since Alabama started its run in 2008.

quote:This is simply not true. Alabama has far more SEC reg season titles 6-3, SEC tournament titles 7-2, NCAA appearances 22-10 and NCAA Sweet 16 runs 9-5. The head to head record is 99-65 Alabama. AU has made one final four while Alabama has not made one. There is really no comparison between the two programs historically.
Athletically, Auburn is historically more successful in Basketball
Alabama has a winning record vs every team in the SEC (most by a large margin) except UK and Ark. I could not find AU's h-h record vs SEC schools but it is likely that they do not have a winning record vs anyone.

What was the record between 2010-2019 (ten years) ? That was the original conversation.

You wouldn’t understand. Bama Athletics might be a big deal in AL but Auburn, Florida, and UGA Olympic athletes reach global audiences across the nation… and in Europe, Brazil, South Africa, Australia, Canada, etc…
