What's the connection with Mizzou and the song Mr Brightside? Mizzou fans went crazy for it at the beginning of the 4th quarter, and we were wondering where the fascination came from.

We enjoyed our trip to Columbia, BTW. Most of the fans were very hospitable.

Do they still have the "petting zoo" at the game?

Pretty sure you can’t pet people in 2023.

Was that the song they ended with “f ku” chant?
There is no connection to it and Mizzou.

Really started catching fire the last few seasons and went wild during basketball season last year. The part people mainly care about is the frick KU at the end. We had some confused LSU fans around me and I explained that it's basically our new frick KU chant which is our most traditional and historical rival.

They only play it during commercial breaks because after it got on the Mizzou vs LSU broadcast last season in basketball they've been careful to censor us ever since.

Mr. Brightside on live broadcast

It got pretty wild at the Georgia home game last year too:

Dave Matter reports:

Mizzou DC Blaker Baker salutes the home crowd from Saturday's Georgia game, says he always thought he knew the words to "Mr Brightside" but "obviously I'm learning something new."
(You have to be at a game to know what he's talking about.)

Please do. I liked Mizzou doing the petting zoo "real baby animals" and all and thought it was a great thing. Do not know if it survived c19 and all new kinds of corporate crap at games now.

I was at a wedding in St. Louis just over a week ago and the DJ played Mr. Brightside.

Over half the crowd chanted fku during the musical interlude. It warmed my heart a small bit.

Legitimate statement. And genuine concern.

I would answer you question if I knew the answer, but the ending fku...is one of the most enjoyable parts of any Mizzou experience.

And just to clear up any confusion, the k we are speaking of is to our west, not Kentucky.

You can’t feign high class immediately after the dj plays “Get Low.”

Sounds like you go to shitty weddings.

So they can carry out their trash fanbase fantasies with a classless chant about a team they supposedly don’t care about

They do it at just about any home sporting event

And apparently weddings of loser couples

Odd that you guys were too scared to play them last season given the amount of animosity you have and rent-free space they take in your minds...

However, I don’t remember them doing it when we emptied the bench in their gym last December
