According to Saban, not bad now that she's learned to keep her teeth out of the way.

He's played in garbage time, and is a special teams starter. He has had a little trouble with the playbook, but that's understandable for true freshman db in Saban's defense.

His plybook is nfl layden

Wow. LOL

Seriously- did anyone really expect the kid to show up and take the team by storm? By comparison to the guys that have been in that program- he's still just that- a kid. He'll develope in time.

There is not a freshman safety that's going to start right away for Nick Saban. Mark Barron didn't and neither did Ha'Sean Clinton-Dix. Landon Collins will move into Robert Lester's role next year.

Not True. Laron Landry started as a true freshman at safety for LSU and Saban in 2003. But he was a gifted and unique player.

Landon Collins and Denzel Devall will be two of our best players before they leave for the NFL.

Louisiana still producing great players.

Collins is not in the same league as Landry. Landry was a freakish player.

More La busts at Bama than "possible" stars..........js

We have a few Ala kids that turned out to be pretty damn good as well.

Laron Landry says hello. If he is talented enough, Saban will start him.

I agree Saban plays/starts talent, but this isn't really a fair comparison. Saban's defensive playbook at LSU was 270+ pages. It has evolved in the 8 years he's been gone and it is now 425+ pages.

It's harder for a FR to start in his D today than it was 10 years ago.

I'll be more than happy to remind you from time to time.

On the plus side, I don't think we're looking at taking your top 2 instate players this year so Les and friends can have at'em.

If a player is good enough Saban will start him. Landon Collins is not of Laron Landry's caliber and will not be a first round NFL pick.
Yes Louisiana does produce top football talent and we expect to lose some of it to other schools like Arky, Texas A&M and Bama just as we go into other states and grab some talent every year as well. It happens. Some kids like to leave home and you really can't fault them too much.

How could you possibly know that at this stage?

What type of talent did LSU have at safety in 03' when Landry came in compared to what Bama has this year when Collins came in?

I'm glad you can see a kids future this well, wait til he's actually playing meaningful snaps before you make these amazing comments.

Thanks for asking...

Four other future NFL players besides Landry were in the defensive backfield roster on the 2003 LSU team that won the BCS Championship with Landry starting at safety

Corey Raymond
Craig Steltz
Travis Daniels
Randall Gay

Pretty stiff competition.
Laron Landry was mature and talented beyond his years as a freshman. You could tell he was a unique talent immediately. He was the 6th player taken in the NFL draft so his play as a freshmen at LSU wasn't an accident. Pretty good NFL player too.
