Dude, this rule applies to defenseless players. Bryce young scrambling to make a play wasn’t a defenseless player. This isn’t hard to understand if you’d bother to learn the rule.

Here are defenseless players:

quote:

Note 2: Defenseless player (Rule 2-27-14): A player in the act of or just after throwing a pass. A receiver attempting to catch a forward pass or in position to receive a backward pass, or one who has completed a catch and has not had time to protect himself or has not clearly become a ball carrier. A kicker in the act of or just after kicking a ball, or during the kick or the return. A kick returner attempting to catch or recover a kick, or one who has completed a catch or recovery and has not had time to protect himself or has not clearly become a ball carrier. A player on the ground. A player obviously out of the play. A player who receives a blind-side block. A ball carrier already in the grasp of an opponent and whose forward progress has been stopped. A quarterback any time after a change of possession. A ball carrier who has obviously given himself up and is sliding feet-first

Bryce Young wasn’t defenseless in that play

Oh, so a LB can run and deliver a flying forearm shiver to the side of the head of a WR who just caught a screen pass and is running down the sideline with the ball? A DE can mollywhop a QB in the head if he’s running an option play? Is that how you think this works?

But since you brought it up, here’s one definition of defenseless player that you provided:

quote:

A ball carrier already in the grasp of an opponent and whose forward progress has been stopped.

When in question: the player is defenseless

quote:

Bryce Young wasn’t defenseless in that play

Where the hell do you see Bryce Young and why do you keep bringing him up?

It’s either targeting, a late hit, or unnecessary roughness. Take your pick. There is nothing about that contact that is legal.

UT fans are literal retards. Collectively.

After further review, go rewatch the game, or watch it for the first time I guess. 3rd Quarter, start watching at the 10:45 mark.

Tell me with a straight face that’s not a late hit at the very least. Dude should have been ejected and suspended.

Considering they were called for zero penalties the entire first half, I am sure one of the most penalized teams in the NCAA heading into the game only committed one penalty in the game. The lone 5 yard penalty they were actually called for benefited them. The extremely questionable spots and lack of defensive penalties had no impact on the game

Correct, one of the most penalized teams in the country nearly went an entire game without being called for a penalty. It’s pretty easy to understand

Alabama had 1 penalty, and Tennessee had 8, five of which were procedural penalties, which were totally on Tennessee. so bottom line Alabama had 1 penalty and Tennessee had 3

You gulps are definitely defensive this week about the refs protecting you

The Gulps are in denial. Bama has always been a shady program.

Let the girls fight amongst themselves. It's entertaining, and embarrassing all at once.

Those refs need to learn to block, tackle and throw better passes for the poorly prepared opponents.

If the refs were all in for Alabama, why did they let UT go up 20-7 at halftime?

All part of the REC master plan.

The ref crew sucked pretty bad. I saw a UT player knock the piss out of a Bama player on the ground after he was down. The missed holds were pretty bad.

The worst calls of the day were going for it on 4th and short while leading in your own territory. I didn't know the refs made those calls though.

Cause I clearly got two different threads mixed up with Alabama fans bitching about refs because they are defensive over how everyone knows the refs protect them

The UT player was clearly trying to punch out the ball and the side of his arm hits the players helmet. That’s not a penalty. That’s why players wear helmets.

You want football players to stop trying to play football because their arm could touch a helmet

That's just stupid. Even I would be calling fit the head of a Bama player doing that. Imagine the shoe on the other foot. That is definition of why the ejection rule is in place. Eyes up, sees exactly where his elbow is going to land. Cameras on him afterwards, he knew he fricked up. But. Okay. Let's play.

I said all along that you can’t settle for field goals when you are in the red zone.

Instead of trying to punch 1 in Milton kept throwing.

Second we stayed in the dressing room.

Can’t win big games this way

As for the officiating you have to play well enough to overcome that.

Yes things went Bamas way but second half we wasn’t even trying.

Sure many people think refs look the other way when they play Bama not just Tennessee.

Sure you caught some breaks

Sometimes we do
