The concerning thing for me would be that the team quit two years in a row. AnM with a good coach could be a problem for the SEC West IMO.

Don't hire Kiffin.

You would think a coach would realize the weakness at RB position and move away from it somewhat. You play off your strengths, but do enough of the other to keep the defense honest. Sumlin did not

I don't want to say I've completely given up, but my confidence in him getting the job done as our head coach is extremely low right now. I was all for firing him if we could find a good replacement this offseason. I would be surprised if he's our coach in 2017

What's the expectations for next season? 8 wins?

think he is a very good coach and think he will be here for many years. This year he tried his hardest to switch his offense to 50% run and 50% pass. He hired coaches to push the running game but the all the players he recruited were for the high powered passing game. Coaching schemes and talent need to match.
this. and he needs to keep the effort going. he needs the road grater OL like he inherited from Sherman. he probably needs to be more gradual but if his passing game was better so would his running game. #1 RB is good.

I think we'll be around 7-5. If we are worse than 9-3 there will be a lot of upset people. He's sold this as the year we contend and it clearly doesn't look like that's happening

I'd say his overall record is about what we'd have expected up to this point. Sumlin is a good recruiter and a good motivator because he connects with kids and is a straight shooter. Made a mistake with Kyler Murray, and the off field drama last season was not a good look at all.
Sumlin has made some disappointing staff decisions that didn't work out previously, so he has had to upgrade the coaching at both OC and DC. The overall mood is positive about the new hires. Spav was a disaster at play calling and that was the biggest issue last year. Mazzone is bringing more experience to the offense side. Chavis is already getting the defense playing much better.
But we expect to compete better against the SECW, with a shot of winning it every few years. So this season is a big one for Sumlin to show he has staying power.

Maybe my expectations are high for AnM, but it seems like y'all should win 10 a year easily.

I think getting to 10 wins a year in the SECW is doing an excellent job.

Sumlin is the right guy for the job, but this is the state of Texas. It took a long time for A&M and t.u. to have an African American HC. Many fans still aren't ok with it and have been looking for an opportunity to throw him under the bus from the beginning.

OP: that is a fair question.
I think Sumlin has one more year. With the inherent advantages over our peers in our state, 8 wins a year is a disappointment. I would also say that we have a distinct advantage over OU and OSU at the moment as well. The fact is, we've done nothing. Our 2012 recruiting class flamed out, 2 5* QBs have transferred, and Sumlin had obvious problems finding a quality OC. With that being said, Sumlin lost the team two years in a row and stubbornly hired/kept a crap OC. With the new AD and President in place, Sumlin is on notice. I think marked progress needs to be made in 2016 or we will see regime change. I really like Sumlin and I really want him to have success, but he has a mountain to climb.
Shiner Bock, Shiner Premium, Shiner Bohemian Black (when it is cold), Lone Star, St. Arnold Santo, St. Arnold Summer Pils, and Lawnmower. A man doesn't need much else to drink with these choices.
Ziegenbock is simply Budweiser Bock. It is a cheap imitation.
