Question About the Fine

So they have announced the fine for playing NFL players is half of the operating budget. Is this half of the athletic program’s overall budget? Or just the operating budget of the particular sport?
According to google, LSU’s overall athletic budget was $220 million in 2025. The football program’s budget was $51 million.
So would the fine be $110 million? Or $25 million?

Basically they will need to sell more of their program to private equity.

My understanding is that it’s half of the operating budget for the sport that violated the rule. Maybe I’m wrong, though.
