I did see one thing last season when we played Bama that was telling. All of Bamas scores came against our weak passing defense over the top. We had issues at corner last year early. We fixed them. But they tried to run on us and couldn’t do so. And we could run on them. They just beat us will the big play.
I think no will reserve judgement until that game.

I agree. I think we are seeing parity develop. Last year was the first year A&M actually ran on Bama. We pretty much move our offense at will. You’re offense was just faster and able to quick strike over the top and it proved to be worth tons of points. So obviously we have to stop that to have a chance.
But what encouraged me when looking at the Bama game is that we were beaten in really on our corners. I mean it was a ton of points but for the first time ever Bama had to pass deep to beat us. Usually we just allowed you to run us over.
So we shall see. I expect Bama will win. But I don’t think you’ll light up our corners again. Maybe I’m wrong.
But yes, it’s gonna be a war. And I agree the rest of the league is gonna catch one of us napping.

A&M secondary was exposed against Bama, but after that we saw large improvement in the play of the cornerbacks. This was evident against the likes of LSU, UNC, etc late in the year. However, they still get burned from time to time.
All levels of the defense will be better this year, so I look for a closer game against Alabama. Who wins? No damned idea - both teams have question marks

I use 4 years because that’s the tenure of our coach.
No because Arkansas beat us 3 out 4 from 2007-2010. (We won a National Championship in that 4 year span. Arkansas won nothing.) We promptly went back to dominating them after.

Alrighty then. This is going to be a fun season watching everyone melt when the poor aggies beat them with a QB named “King”.
I can see the headlines now if we win. God y’all better be right. Cause is gonna get ugly if the Ags repeat last season.

you can beat LSU a million times and if you dont win the division you still arent shite. There isnt an aggie alive that has seen A&M win a football natty.

A&M is way more talented today than we were when he first got here. And if he builds on last year as expected ... we feel pretty good about the direction of the program.

Aggie was more talented 2011-2015 than they are now. Sumlin recruited about the same with better evaluation at almost all skill positions.

Ill give you credit for trying to have a reasonable football discussion, but as it’s already been pointed out, there’s not much of that occurring on tRant.
Your question has been answered numerous times already tho. If the Ags repeat last year, will they still be overrated? The truthful answer is it just depends. Too many variables that cannot be accounted for until the season is played. Many of those variables have already been mentioned.
I think most on here are just speaking from a “respect” angle and not necessarily a stats point of view. And I personally agree with them. Meaning, until you win something, aTm will not get the respect they so desperately want. Win the West, and you’ll get respect from the media (not likely from many on here tho). Win the SEC, and you’ll get respect. Win the NC, and why would you give a fuq what anyone thinks anyway?!!

Nope. He just had Johnny. But I can see why you would think that after we put the beat down on you. But even after that history making loss, we were still only 3rd in the SEC.
You’ll learn. The definition of “good team” just changed for you and you don’t know it yet.

Idk if you know this or not, but the qb we lost was in a big time competition to win his job back after his injury last year.
Our starting qb is the one who started only the last two games of the year and he beat two good teams and kept up with the offense that those two put on display. That’s ole miss and Florida .Our defense was horrible and we still won the game against 2 of the top 3 offenses in the sec last year.
Everyone around the team was saying that it was beginning to be apparent that the guy we lost was gonna be the backup .
I’m just saying this because you keep talking about us losing our qb . The qb that hasn’t played since week 3 last season. We didn’t lose the guy that won his only starts

Look, I get it. You want respect. I totally understand that. But the facts remain.
The reason Bama, LSU, Auburn and Florida get respect is because we all have hardware. LSU, Auburn and Florida have all been at or below .500 recently. We still get the respect because we have won championships.
Georgia gets the respect because they have won SEC titles and were a miracle play away from winning a National Championship.
Texas A&M has not won anything yet. Getting a win over LSU gifted to you and beating our worst team ever is not going to garner respect. DO you see Auburn fans brag about beating us last year? No. You know why? Because they know it wasn't that big of a deal. You haven't even won the West yet.
