Some of these guys on here who have never played, been around, or coached football don't understand what it means to develop a player. They assume all you have to do is recruit 4 and 5 star athletes and you automatically win.

What the hell are you talking about? Of course everyone knows the importance of developing players.
You're always making shite up and putting words into other people's mouths. I think you're either really old or just perma-fricked up.
like I said......talking with Bundy makes me feel like

Miss State just needs to recruit above average of the defensive side.
You can make up for lack of talent on offense with scheme and gimmick offense..not so much for the defense.

State's defensive recruiting has been fine.

QBs have bad days and its really stupid to suggest that a player is good because he picked off a certain qb twice in one game.
Nope. He's good because he has put together good 2-year career numbers.

Glad to know I make you feel that way pank.

I'm the origin of Darn Merlins and you are the origin of his evil brother Dave Marlins, correct?

Mississippi State, as the climate and rules currently exist, will never be able to "raise their ceiling" to the point where they are on the same level of the major players in this conference. I don't mean that as a flame or a dig at State at all, but they don't have the resources other schools have. They can be a good, solid program that goes to bowl games and consistently wins 7 or 8 games a year, but that's as far as they can take it regardless of who the coach is.
If just one player, Cam Newton, had gone to State like he was going to, State would have finished at least 10-2, possibly 11-1 and would have won the SEC West and most likely the SEC, playing in a BCS bowl and likely winning.
That's a lot of "likely's" and "if's", I know, but I really think that would have been the case.
I think that State would have beaten LSU, Auburn, and Arkansas. Alabama played a great game against them, so I don't know about that one.
Cam was headed to Miss. St. until the money became too good. My point is just that having a player like that can change everything.
And, then the recruiting gets better because you're winning.

Diamond in the Rough Corey Broomfield is about to start for his 3rd straight season. Only D-1 offer was State. Took 2 Tim Tebow passes to the house as a true Freshman. It's guys like this that are also the reason Mullen is winning. He is developing players better than Crooms ever could and Jackie's last couple of years.
What game has Broom or Banks won for you? If you sign 25 2 and 3 stars then yes a few surprises will happen. That's just relative chance. But there won't be enough to win you football games. Every team has those few players no one expected anything from. Hell OM is king with first round 2 stars Pwillie and Peria Jerry. What the hell does DB development have to do with Mullen? Charles Sawyer was a complete unknown and now he's our best DB as a sophomore. Did Nutt develop him? It certainly wasn't Dameron. Like I said, every team has 2's and 3's that have exceeded expectations, but you can't win on them alone in the SEC. Banks and Broom are nothing special talent wise or development wise.

gimmick offense
When are people going to realize the spread isn't a "gimmick" offense.
Were Florida's 2 Nat'l Championships just a gimmick?

We are actively recruiting two top 100 defensive players as well as a solid in state LB. Our secondary is young and we have some solid recruits at Safety from last year in Dee Arrington as well as this year with Quadry Antione.

your point should also be that a player like Cam Newton comes along exactly once in a lifetime. I personally can't remember a player who, in only one year, won the NC game and a Heisman.

Banks and Broomfield will both likely be drafted, along with Charles Mitchell. That's three members of the current secondary.

I don't like being mean, but I think he's a fricking moron.
