Great, you return a few starters from a D that was average at best and ranked 88th in passing D.
27th Nationally in Scoring Defense.
Near the top of the nation in 3rd down defense.
36th Nationally in Rushing Defense.
That "average at best" defense only allowed 22 points a game, INCLUDING the 57 they allowed to Louisiana Tech.

Not every team we blew out was terrible. MSU won 8 games and OU was top-ten when we played them.
Never said they were.

Thanks for clarifying average.
I am glad you return a few starters and some backups.

Here's what that "average at best" defense did against SEC opponents:
vs. Florida: Allowed 20 points (6.46 below their average
vs. Arkansas: Allowed 10 points (13.50 below their average)
vs. Ole Miss: Allowed 27 points (4.46 below their average)
vs. LSU: Allowed 24 points (5.77 below their average)
vs. Auburn: Allowed 21 points (2.33 above their average)
vs. Mississippi State: Allowed 13 points (16.46 below their average)
vs. Alabama: Allowed 24 points (14.71 below their average)
vs. Missouri: Allowed 29 points (3.25 above their average)
On average, A&M held its SEC opponents to 7 points below their offensive average.
On its own that's not impressive, but when you're putting up 45 points/game...

Cool.
Still ranked 58th in total D.
I mean, if you have any facts that ATM wasn't average on D, explain.
Why are you taking this personal?
The last team to have an average D and win the SEC and the NC was AU, however AU (2010) had (in my opinion) a MUCH better D line than ATM had last year. Auburn also had a better run game that year which points be to believe that the "trenches" were a major reason for success for AU..

Well, the defensive line is much improved with the additions of Walker, Manning, Hall, and Golden. The running game should be better now that Williams and Carson are eligible (giving us 5 quality backs to choose from instead of 3), and the offense as a whole should be better.
Everyone seems to forget that, even though Manziel had 1,400+ yards and 21 TD on the ground that Malena and Trey Williams had 1,300+ yards and 13 TD on the ground and Christine Michael had 12 TD by himself.

Not sure what makes you think the Dline will be improved. ATM does not have a strong history in this regard.

Clearly not, because we've never had linemen like:
Red Bryant
Rocky Bernard
Ty Warren
Sam Adams
Brandon Mitchell
Ron Flemons
Michael Bennett
Damontre Moore

Dumbass. A&M could be at least 10-2 with a shitty QB like Bo Wallace.

A&M offensive two deep is better than anyone's in the SEC except MAYBE Alabama.
I'll take our offense over Bama's. The combination of their very good offense plus excellent defense will probably be enough to win the West vs. our excellent offense plus mediocre defense though. Hope Snyder proves me wrong.

Said it for a while but I'm thinking 8-4 with loses to Bama, Ole Miss, Vandy and LSU. Maybe 7-5 with a loss to Rice

Last time the Aggies lost to Rice, I was 2. I am 35 now. Plus Rice's beat defender is suspended.

On its own that's not impressive, but when you're putting up 45 points/game.
Considering everyone plays a few creampuffs AND there were some really bad teams in the bottom third of the SEC last year you would expect an average BCS defense to hold their SEC opponents below their season average
