Lee and Sopsher were both from Amite right?

Obviously it looks like maybe neither will pan out, but they were stud recruits

I mean, are you saying it’s wrong to have pride in the state you are from?

You can be proud of contributing to your State. Doesn’t have to be exclusively as public servant either. If you are a good Doctor, businessman, carpenter.... through your work you contribute to your State... that you can be proud of.

You can’t be proud of being BORN in Louisiana. You have no control or influence over that.... now you can say you are happy, you have gratitude, you love Louisiana... but you can’t be proud about something you have no merit over.

Are you proud of a team that you root for when they win a big game? And listen slick, I've spent a lot of time in Amite and independence... Kentwood, Loranger... as well as every other small town in SE Louisiana. So seeing some of this areas... yeah, I can say I'm proud of a kid that I never met and had nothing to do with. SO PISS OFF!!

I love LSU. I’m proud of being a graduate of the school because I’m the one that went to class and passed the exams. I’m no big donor but I contribute according to my means to the school and TAF.

Hell yeah I root for LSU and are very happy when The Tigers win big games, championships, etc. I’m thankful to have seen it and hope to see many more big wins.

I was happy for them, I enjoyed the shite out of LSU cleaning up all the trophies last year...... but why would I feel PROUD of Joe Burrow? I didn’t train with him, didn’t run the sprints, didn’t drive him to practice (like his parents)..... all I did was drink beer and enjoyed watching him play. How is that a source of pride and merit?

You saying we can’t be proud to be an American? Where at least we know we’re free? Commie.

Gay pride. What do you think of that? Are you proud of other Americans inventing “gay pride”?

Gay Pride is also an absurd concept for the exact reasons. This is NOT a discriminatory comment. Exact opposite. If someone is born gay we all have to accept and respect them, but it is not a source of pride in itself anymore than being straight, bisexual, etc.

That shite about being proud over shite you haven’t earned is another face of what Clint Eastwood referrers to as “the pusification of America”.

I’m the exact opposite of a commie. shite has to be earned.

Honestly, I prefer to see instate kids ball out at home instead of out of state rivals/programs.

Why?

Personally I prefer kids to go where they will be challenged and see things in new perspectives. That can happen 45 miles down the road...sure. But you take a kid like Najee from Oakland area and put him in Tusacaloosa Alabama....that kind of move takes some confidence or determination to get confidence for an 18yr old. I hope Ttown has had an impact on him and vice versa.

I respectfully disagree. Regardless if my thoughts on homosexuality, gay pride seemingly evolved from a sense of community amongst gay people. Very similar to being proud of your home.

And after doubling down on the ridiculousness of someone’s pride in their home, you’re going to require people accept and respect someone or something that they don’t have anything to do with? Because... why, exactly? I’m not saying it’s wrong to respect everyone. Quite the opposite, actually. But you’re argument is absurd and contradictory.

I’m not trying to ridicule anyone,.

The argument is consistent. Being born a certain way or in a certain place is in itself not a source of pride, you have no control over it. Of course you can be glad, be thankful for, love the culture, etc.... what you CAN be proud of is how you contribute with your effort and work to make your State, community, America, gender group or whatever a little bit better...and I’m not being absurd it has to be something that is in the news or inventing the cure for cancer necessarily. You can be proud if doing any job with effort and responsibility.

Same argument with athletes, teams, artists, musicians etc. You can love Elvis’ music and listen to it all day, but why would you feel pride in him selling millions of albums? Unless you wrote, played or in some way directly contributed.

The “commie” comment was honestly a joke. Maybe the rest is a matter of opinion. I think it’s fair for people to take pride in their university, state, or hometown and people associated with those institutions that go on to excel. IMO, it naturally encourages a sense of pride for people, places, or things that you’re associated with to do exceptional things or be extremely successful.

You make sense. Probably we just have different interpretations of what the meaning of the word pride is and no one is wrong.
