Were they really the only ones or are you thinking of Long's Sunday?

I am not so sure that was an intended smoke screen.

Hawgeye, im not being a jerk (as everyone seems to thing i am with every post) but seriously why is so much made about the coaching search? Because honestly its a rolling of the dice. Im a titans fan and im not super excited about Mike, but hell we never know until they coach. I mean you could get a big name guy and he not meet expectations, or you could get a no-name assistant and he take off and make a name for himself. IMO hiring a coach is a big "luck" thing if thats the right word

Except for when you're hopeful for a Saban'esque "shocker" of a hire...Or if you're Arkansas basketball. Most Arkansas fans on this board probably care more about our hoops team than you do the Titans.

Arkansas is a top tier program historically. Not on the tier of Kansas, Kentucky, etc., but a very storied history. Arkansas is still considered a top basketball job across the country. This hire is very important for our program and the SEC.

We are going to need a big name to keep out top 5 class together. We need a proven winner. We need a coach who has put the pieces together before. This program does not need an assistant who has not proven to put a program back on the map. There are high expectations here. There are a lot of banners hanging in Bud Walton. This program can chew up and spit out an assistant coach who may not be ready for a head coaching job. We need a sure fire bet here, not a risk. Getting someone who is proven is what the program needs. If he fails, so be it. Hiring an assistant to take over this Arkansas program is just asking for failure IMO.

The titans are my favorite team of all. I would take a SB over anything. i remember being in 8th grade and i didnt watch pro football much. My parents said "Hey we have this pro team coming to nashville, you think you would go to the games?" i was like well i dont watch pro football much (since i loved going to the bama games and college football) but i said i would cause i love football. Game 1 was a game winning FG against Cincinatti in a 1 point win and ever since that day me and the whole middle tennessee era has been titan crazy. UT fans are still butthurt we have stolen 85% of the local media from their program

I remember not being able to sleep at night as a teenager after we would lose a game.

I remember watching the highly touted UNLV/Arkansas, UMass/Arkansas, Arizona/Arkansas matchups.

I remember teachers skipping their days assignments when Arkansas was playing in the NCAA Tourney and watching it on television during school hours.

I remember in 1990 when we were getting ready to play Duke in the Final Four and a Duke player, who had an incredibly hard name to pronounce calling Oliver Miller "Fat Albert" and adding more fire to that game.

I remember being a kid and watching Arkansas beat Michael Jordan and UNC in Pine Bluff.

Most Arkansas fans want this back. AD Long I believe knows that. We will make a great hire this time around, bank on it.

Titans games are the most viewed television program in tennessee. All titans games ranked #1. What was 2nd? a game between the Jets and the steelers. that just shows what the titans did for our area as far as overall pro football love. The titans games averaged double the viewers than UT's highest TV rated game against Florida

I hope you're right about JL, his job is riding on not screwing up this hire.

2 days without a coach seems to have driven me crazy because I'm starting to think I'm starting to think all four of the buzz williams backers may have a point. my best explanation is that the BAC is firing off a mind control beam.
