Wednesday Update:Anderson is close to signing with arkansas? All signs point that way. Expect News to break around 11. Presser at the latest tomorrow evening.

https://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/news/story?id=6249515

Tuesday is the day if we find out if Mike anderson will be the coach at arkansas. Tuesday is the deadline.

UPDATE:As of 6:44 AM 3/22
Once again, still being told by multiple sources that Mike Anderson is still in limbo right now. No decision has been made either way.
Even the St. Louis Dispatch(Broke the extension story) says ESPN is jumping the gun.

Article 3/22 2:36 AM

quote:

For the second straight year, Missouri basketball coach Mike Anderson will eschew outside offers in favor of a contract extension and a raise from the Tigers, multiple school sources told ESPN.com's Andy Katz on Monday.

The sources confirmed a St. Louis Post-Dispatch report that the school was on the verge of finalizing a new deal with Anderson that will add two years to his current contract. Also, Anderson will receive a bump in salary to nearly $2 million, up from his current pay grade of roughly $1.5 million, the sources confirmed.

The sources said the deal is imminent and confirmed the Post-Dispatch report that the talks had been ongoing for some time.

The Post-Dispatch reported Monday that the deal had to be formally approved by university officials.

Anderson was rumored to be a candidate for the opening at Arkansas, where he was an assistant for 17 years. Arkansas fired coach John Pelphrey on March 13.

Anderson received a new seven-year deal last April after he interviewed for the Oregon coaching job.

"Mizzou and Arkansas continue to negotiate with Mike Anderson. Being told Buzz Williams has $3.8 mil buyout. That's from Oklahoma source."

Wally Hall

"Once again, still being told by multiple sources that Mike Anderson is still in limbo right now. No decision has been made either way."

"My sources have said Anderson deal to stay at Missouri is not done. Arkansas not out of the equation. Source: "Could still go either way."

Jeff Goodman of FoxSports.

- Arkansas talks with Jimmy Sexton for the past several day(Sources says Mike told Sexton get him good deal from Arkansas)
- Arkansas offers Mike the job
- Mizzou offers Mike an extension
- Mike is undecided on what he wants to do

ESPN is jumping the gun by saying he has decided to sign with Mizzou. Has not happened.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mike Anderson has instructed Sexton to get the deal done and wants to be announced on Tuesday as head coach at Arkansas. Long is slow playing the negotiations all the while Missouri is putting together a raise and an extension for Anderson, wanting him to sign it now. If we lose Anderson it will be spun as a Sexton faux paus however it will actually be because Long has not gotten deal completed. If we are to sign Anderson is must be done now. Others that have called about job are Pitino, Buzz Williams, Mike Brey, and Ben Howland. Pitino and Brey weren't supposed to be mentioned in the public, but oh well. The Mike Anderson thing isn't going to happen now. GOBN screwed it up, like usual.

Only negative thing I can say about Tubby is that he is getting on up there in age and will be the Oldest coach in the SEC if he is hired (he turns 60 this summer)

I think he will have to bring in young assistant coaches with SEC experience who are good recruiters with him.

Unlike Football, its easier to recruit kids to arkansas in basketball. We have a top 10 class coming in this year and all are arkansas kids.

Tubby would be a homerun hire.

The Arkansas full court press from hell team from the 90s was one of my fav all time, I think it was 1994?

Devonta Abrom is from Dallas, TX

BJ Young is from Missouri.

Yall got 3 good ones from Arkansas but not all of your recruits are Arkansas kids.

National Championship was in 94 but arkansas always pressed. Like a swarm of bees, it didn't matter if you was a walk on or all sec. We play 10-13 players a night.

Don't believe anything this man says. He is a drunk. It would be an epic fail if you guys hired him. How any school could hire him is beyond me.

Personally, I don't get all the Buzz Williams love. I would prefer we just stay away from the Big East because none of the good coaches are going to leave.

Tubby would be a bad hire IMHO. A lot of Bama fans wanted him after Gottfried and I am glad we didn't bite. Lazy recruiter who never really accomplished what he should have at UK once Pitino's players left. Good on court coach though. At 60, I think his lazy recruiting habits will only get worse. You guys need someone young who will work his arse off to make a name for himself.

Smith struggled to land many top recruits. In one instance he passed up McDonald's All-American Corey Brewer saying Brewer was too skinny to play in the SEC. Smith, instead, opted for the more robust Perry Stevenson.

Just read this on wiki.

quote:

Smith led the Wildcats to an overall record of 263–83 record for a winning percentage of .760. In his 10 seasons with Kentucky, he averaged over 26 wins per season.

26/wins a year would be nice again.

Arky needs to quit playing around. If they are the elite basketball school they think they are, they need to pony up 3.5 mil and go hire Mike Anderson. He would stay there the rest of his career and Arkansas would be a perennial SEC contender.
