You can't be serious. I read an article last year about college coaching searches, these things are done well in advance. There are "headhunters" who are employed to gauge the interest of a schools top choices. They meet in cities far away from either campus, even using fake names at hotels with agents of the "hunted" coach. The new coach may not actually make any true contact with the AD of the hiring school until it is established that he wants the job.
Not all of them go like that, but many higher profile hires do.
How do you think Alabama knew that Saban might want back into CFB in October of '06, while he was the Dolphins HC?
Even so, you Hogs who keep bringing up Bill Self are truly retarded.
How much does Petrino make? You are going to pay a hoops coach more than him?

Nope. Anyone who thinks that our new basketball coach will make more than Petrino are high, or uninformed.
Arkansas will make a great hire, but it is not going to be Self from KU, period.
Anderson, Turgeon, & Tubby Smith. One of those 3 IMO will be the next head coach at Arkansas.
If you want my opinion.

nope. you don't have to be a lawyer to be an agent, and many agents aren't lawyers (I'm pretty sure Jimmy Sexton isn't a lawyer; Mallett hired both a lawyer and an agent to represent him).

So from reading the last few pages your making it sound like every college basketball coach in America has a "Camp" and I think sone of you hogs believe coaches have a 5-10 member entourage like actors, musicians/rappers, or politicians.
I need to assemble me a CAMP
Everyone has their "runners" so to speak, or their "camp" that will find things out for them.
How do you think we got Petrino? How do you think Florida found out Muschamp was interested?
Every time there is a coaching hire, or even well before, that coaches "people" will be contacted to see what interest there is on their part.

Turgeon to me only seems as a minor upgrade from Pel, and Tubby Smith is over the hill. You hogs better hope Anderson accepts the job.

I would take Turgeon any day over MA (if it's down to those two)

Are you high? How is Turgeon a "minor" upgrade?
Turgeon has taken Wichita State to the Sweet 16. Got to A&M and has recruited very well and also taken them to 4 straight NCAA tourney's. He has averaged 24 wins per year in the Big 12. Good enough for me.

Tubs still has some coaching left in him. He would be a great guy to come in and get our program back on track and set up for the next guy. Nothing wrong with Tubby Smith at all.

Why? Anderson, when you get down to the numbers has not just blown the basketball world up in his coaching career.

College basketball isn't the NFL or big time NCAA college football.

I want to give you credit for being a smart guy, but you are making it hard

I think he is a middle of the pack big-12 coach I don't see him being that much better than Jeff Capel, Travis Ford, or Scott Drew. I don't think he is better than Bill Self, Rick Barnes, frank Martin, or Mike Anderson; all of whom have advanced further in the NCAA tourney than Turgeon

Headhunters are not connected to a university. So if it leaks then the department school has deniability. That's why I said no ad would ever approach a candidate while the job was still held. The headhunter is not contracted by Ath Dept but by the BOT or President

What he has done at Texas A&M is great. A&M is a horrible basketball school, period. He has averaged 24 wins while still playing Baylor, Kansas, Oklahoma State, Oklahoma, Kansas, Texas, and Missouri.
I would rate him higher than Mike Anderson.

Never said he was better than Self. Barnes is a disappointment IMO, in that his teams always end the season sucking. Frank Martin has steadily declined as Huggies recruits have left the KSU program. Again, Mike Anderson is only 6 games above .500 in Big 12 play and has a losing road record.
What Turgeon has done at A&M is excellent. A&M is not a basketball school and has never been known as such.

I think many in here think a coaches "people" or a universities "people" involve administration, but it does not.

has 8 20 win seasons out of 13 years coaching.
If they beat nebraska in the nit, will have back to back 25 win seasons.

Greg Marshall would be good, but I do not think that is the hire Long will make.
