Yeah, let's not prosecute anyone because there are murders in the city too!
Great logic!
Dude needs to be punished for being an idiot.
No one is saying don't punish him. You do realize the two sides can let him plead to an agreed upon offense and punishment without the time and money of a trial?

How is this playing in Alabama? I would be exceptionally embarrassed had the situation been reversed but then again we already have a reputation as fans that Alabama doesn't have.

Because it's an Alabama fan right?
No. I'd say the same if it were some other fan base. The guy should definitely be punished, but sexual battery?

One with clear video evidence would get a shite load more attention than this.

I don't recall any of those types of crimes being recorded and posted to youtube. The minute there is, I can guarantee, it will be national news

No, I'm just saying the incompetent imbeciles working the real cases in Nola cant even solve a small portion of them. The city is a cess pool that not very many normal people would want to live in. It makes Hill Valley in "Back to the Future 2" look like Beverly Hills. There is so much real crime going on in that town that it is laughable to allocate any real resources to some college kid getting tea bagged by the alumni of another rival school. It should be a decent fine and community service at the most.
Take more shots at NOLA brah please.

Not only would I be embarrassed, I'd be fricking pissed.

I had nothing to do with this. So because this guy lives 4 hours from me and happens to want Bama to win football games I should be embarrassed? I will never understand the logic that this guy somehow represents me because we both cheer for Bama in athletics.

I'm an AU fan (obviously) and I have already stated my opinion on this one. Somewhere in the neighborhood of 6 months jail time, some probation and about a $10k fine. The sex offender tag is ludicris and he has really already suffered enough humilation and so forth in my opinion.

I like where this lawyer's head is at... hopefully the court will take his advice and reevaluate their perspective. If so, then I'm pretty confident that the next time I'm in New Orleans, I'll have a free pass to break the speed limit and run redlights/stop signs since they're less serious than murder.

I just wonder if the Teabagger was an LSU fan would they be wasting this much time and money on this.

I realize this might be a difficult concept but, perception by association.

Not taking any shots, it is what it is. I still love to visit from time to time bc it's a fun place to party and there are some good restaurants. But it would be a horrible place to live. People aren't even meant to live there.

If it made youtube, you bet. The state of Alabama would be calling for this guy's head too

There is a very simple, cost effective solution to this problem, if everyone would stop with the hyperbole.
Posted on 1/26/12 at 6:02 pm to Schwaaz
If it was the other way around with an LSU fan tea bagging a Bama fan after the game in Tuscaloosa, that the police wouldn't arrest the guy as well?
Posted on 1/26/12 at 6:03 pm to NOLATide
Makes a good point. People are more outraged by this, because it has to do with football, than actual murders going on in their communities. They'd rather see this guy put to death than a for real killer. Because they might cheer for a team that is rival of his. Sad, but true.

Dude, it is all about the video. It could have been an LSU fan doing it to another LSU fan or a Bama fan doing it to another Bama fan and it would get the same amount of attention.
