Shouldn't surprise you either. He can't recruit at a high enough level to meet expectations at Florida even in a shitty division. Will be his downfall. Boom's defensive players have bailed him out so far and honestly, they would barely make a bowl game if they played a schedule that wasn't filled with so many bad teams. It won't be this year but Jim won't be with us much longer.

Butch is out after next season. Jim will outlast him by at least one year.

I think there definitely has to be a bit of nervousness with the lack of a QB on campus and the total inability to get the offense to be able to move.

The defensive talent will start to decline in the coming years and Mac better be ready to score some more points.

I would actually take Butch on this one. I think Jim is going to take another job.

Next year is the year to do something on offense; no doubt. Almost every player in the two deep will be back and Muschamp's defense will be gone.

I still don't understand how Florida hired the most questionable coach in the dubious Saban tree to take over a job like that.

No because Florida is not dumb enough to lock up McElwain with a longer contract extension unlike those fools in Tennessee are about to do.

Mac is a great X's and O's coach. His recruiting has left a lot to be desired. We finish second on elite recruits too often. I think the day he gets a stud quarterback will be the day that Florida is truly back, because his offense works. Watch this weekend, there will be open receivers all over the field for UF. It's just up to the QB whether he sees them and is able to hit them.

I think he has extreme confidence in his ability as a coach and some arrogance about him that stems from how good of a coach he is, but he needs to realize that that's great after he's won big, not before.

Agreed. I don't appreciate his smug attitude at all.

Mac's problem is recruiting. He can coach, he showed that at Colorado State. Unlike Kirby or Muschamp he had actually already turned around a program.

There isn't a law that says Florida can only hire coaches that coached with Saban.

Aren't you the one who brought up the Saban coaching tree?

I was, and if you can read, you'd understand why your point is irrelevant.

I can read. You brought up the Saban coaching tree, Triple Dave corrected you, and then you changed your tone. Nobody suggested that Saban assistants were all that was out there, except for you.
