This is what happens when you don't know what kind of team you actually have.
We played enough to know who we were and our team was tested. Texas was not.
It's hard to know how good you are when you beat up on lesser teams.
Media hype didn't help.
But anyone who thinks that game means Texas suddenly sucks is mistaken, because the defense is legit. We COULD suck if Ewers continues to play like that or is not replaced. The staff is in a tough spot with the QB decision because Sark is selling his QB development while Ewers has regressed.

Think you meant ‘86 Bears

I think so too. But that’s the difference between the SEC and the B12. You have to go out there hurt and play big name teams every week.
If Texas was still in be B12 then even injured he would have still cakewalked through the conference.

Ewers has had non-stop elite QB training since he was a small child. The idea that he would continue to develop rapidly was a pipe dream.
The same could be said about the backup also.

I really like what I'm hearing in this thread, but sadly what dumbass fans think doesn't really reflect what the coaches and players are thinking.
I wish it worked that way so we could legitimately sneak up on everyone left on our schedule.

By this logic, you could’ve legitimately snuck up on Georgia, right?

Ewers was never known as a deep ball thrower unless off PA. When he play actioned in this game his pre-snap read never looked the same after he turned his back and looked again. UGA did a fantastic job of changing what they gave Ewers and Sark pre-snap to what coverage they moved to post snap.
There also were not a ton of free running WR's out there. I think I saw like maybe three missed opportunities where the WR had grass or bad coverage on him. Sometimes a defense makes a QB look bad...I have seen it a ton as a UGA fan, honestly too many times to count.
This is what defense looks like in a high-stakes NFL talent laden SEC games. Texas played maybe 2-3 teams that could do that all of last year. This year it's going to be closer to 3-5 before the SEC championship game is even played. It's different here.

Everyone here is literally arguing that we thought we were world beaters coming into this game, and even many Georgia people had doubts they would win. Everyone is also arguing we're a complete fraud because of the results of that game, so what you said makes no sense.

I loved the ones who said they had the 2 best QBs in the SEC. I don't think Georgia believed them.

UGA, with a young secondary that has continued to gel, and getting Mykel back for the 1st time since the opener, played the elite style of defense they played in 21 and 22.
When they get Jordan Hall back on the field, along with Smael Mondon in the LB rotation, they further bolster that front 7 with depth and experience.
The defense has had some tough sledding with injuries and learning to perform as a unit but they took a huge leap this weekend to being elite.
Biggest case in point is the improvement in not giving up the edge like they did in the 1st 4 games. Chambliss has improved drastically in the last 3 weeks. Probably more scheme oriented changes for him that keep him from being on an island if I had to guess.
And the tackling has gradually gotten back to what is expected of a Smart coached defense.

You're missing what I'm saying. When he did try to go deep he underthrew badly. His mid range passes were high arcing and had no zip. I've watched every pass the kid has thrown at Texas and a couple games at Southlake.
He did fine against the Michigan D and against Bama last year. This wasn't about it "being different here". It was about Georgia dominating this game and Texas not being ready. Like Bama did to Georgia in the first half of their game. It was also about Ewers playing like crap because he was confused by a great scheme AND because he has not played well the last few games. Something is off with him. If it's mental he needs to sit.

Fair assessments, you have watched him a ton more than me so will defer to your guys takes on him. I have seen others say that oblique injury may still be bothering him and that very well could be true.
I just wanted to point out that there was a ton of pre-snap coverage looks changing to a different look post snap. That adds on processing time and gives our rush another 1/2 second to get there.

I remember when they beat Moo State and bragged on here saying they owned the SEC

Seriously, after struggling with state in front of a packed house/home crowd in Austin, their fans flock to Facebook to tell everybody that they own the SEC

On the scoreboard forum during the UGA Bama game a Texas poster said “I can’t wait to get ahold of that slow arse Georgia defense”
