To me the issue isn't really with him drinking unless he really does have a problem.
What I would be concerned about if it were my qb is that when he had an opportunity to be in the presence of NFL legends at his position, he skipped out on the morning. Not only is it a mistake, but don't you think if he was focused on improving his game and trying his hardest to take A&M to the next level he would have wanted to make the most of that opportunity to possibly glean some knowledge from some of the masters of his craft. I know it is just one incident but IMO it could be telling about his mindset.
But he could be studying film and all that jazz every night that we don't hear anything for all I know. Just something that makes you wonder.

The only people who should be mocked are the Ags defending him as a "good" person and other fans calling him an alcoholic. Everyone in between pretty much acknowledges he is an annoying piece of shite with incredible talent and either his talent or his shite/ego will win out in the end (and by the end I mean down the line in his career, not this year).
The most significant point of contention that Aggie fans understand and others do not is that Manziel was doing THE EXACT SAME THINGS last summer and then went out and won the Heisman. He isn't drinking more now than he was then, he isn't any more or less douche, he's just more famous with more cameras following him. It's illogical to say he will crash and burn because of this behavior because it is a point he has already disproven.

I get what you are saying about that he is doing the exact same thing. But wouldn't you agree that to stay ahead in the SEC you have to improve, not stand still.
Texas A&M will do fine this year. But again if it was my qb, I would want him working to get better so that we could take the next step. And as I said for all i know he could be doing that every other week.

Another thing I don't understand is that fans think he isn't preparing. He has bulked up and pics clearly show he has put on some muscle. He missed exactly ONE spring practice and spent nearly a month working on his game with a QB guru. He led optional video sessions with the offense all spring. He has a personal trainer who works him out two hours a day six days a week in College Station.
The guy is going to be fine.

And the thing is that Aggies don't understand is that we've seen this before. Stephen Garcia took his team to a SEC Championship game (lost to eventual champ Auburn) and the Chik-Fil-A bowl, but that didn't prevent him from eventually being dismissed all together from South Carolina over his drinking.
Now JFF is nowhere near Garcia levels at the moment. But let's not act like it can't happen.

It isn't hard to see how fans of other teams see all the reports and think he isn't putting in max effort. Whatever the case what he does on the field next year will be the ultimate factor in how all of this plays out.

By all accounts he is working his arse off in between parties. The guy still looks in great shape and his mechanics are visibly better based on the spring game and summer workout videos with his coach.
I mean, Sportscenter did an entire ten minute segment on his training out in California this summer. It's hard to imagine he wont be better.

Good point (and no, I can't believe I typed that in response to a CheeseburgerEddie post

CFL. Today was nearly 15 min on Manziel alone.
Media days are going to be entertaining. I have to drive to Corpus Wed morning so I will be listening on the Sirius.
I think he picks up where he left off at the Cotton Bowl. We Ags know he's been doing this crap for a long while. See the guilty plebe today for shite he did last offseason.
The one thing I expect him to do is apologize profusely to the Mannings.

The biggest difference is Garcia very likely WAS an alcoholic, a drug abuser and genuine "thug" with anger issues.
Manziel is Garcia what Terrell Owens was to Chris Henry. Both have their problems, but only one has an inherent lawless streak. I just don't see Manziel falling that far off the wagon, especially considering his future is brighter than Garcia's ever was.

Even if Manziel hasn't improved a bit since the Cotton Bowl, he'll likely be the best player in the game this season. He was dropping dimes with his arm that game.

Lot of wishful thinking in that post. The guy got fricked up, slept through an obligation, had someone else try to clean up his mess ("He was sick") and then went out to the bars that very night. That is textbook alocholism.
At the very least, you have to admit it's possible that he's an alcoholic.

If Johnny Manziel, possibly the most heavily observed college athlete in history (at least this early in their careers) was a fullblown alcoholic, we would know about it. I don't mean rumors and shite, I mean there would be articles and school press releases and talk of rehab and shite.
The guy simply could not keep rampant alcoholism under wraps, not with who he is.

Not wishful thinking at all. I think it's deeply troubling. A young man of such promise, who clearly has a problem. Again, I hope he gets the help he needs.
