I don't see the problem here. It's not like Vandy was going to lure some big name successful AD. She's been in a high level position in their Athletic Department for nearly 20 years. It happens all the time for P5 schools to make an internal hire like this. I mean, she's more qualified at this point than Jay Jacobs was when Auburn hired him

The Director's Cup is honestly embarrassing. Ranking a first place finish in women's field hockey the same as a national title in football. I guess it's a bragging point for schools who can't compete in football, men's basketball, and baseball.

Assuming for a moment her race and gender are not qualifications for the position of AD of Vandy, have you looked at her qualifications? She has less than 5 years leadership experience and all it is at Vandy, she has no experience or connections to draw upon to improve Vandy or attempt to make it competitive so yeah this hire is basically Vandy giving up in the SEC. If she was the most qualified person for the position then it it indicative of success not being a qualification, nor did the qualifications include a reasonable expectation for improving the athletic department as a whole. If she (assumption on my part of her preferred pronoun I know) was white and male it doesn’t change her resume
