Plenty of pundits are preposterously picking Liberty over Mississippi State.

I don't know much about the Flames. How do they match up with State? I checked their schedule and they lost to both Vanderbilt and Alabama by 9...

They are a slow-it down team, which I think is a good matchup for us.

Honestly, I didn't think they were very impressive. We played pretty bad that night and the game never really felt in doubt. But, I felt the same about Murray (outside of Morant). Morant is absolutely unreal, but the rest of that team was pretty meh.

The caveat of course being we played both those teams in the first half of the season which was a long time ago.

They could get hot and beat MSU, sure.

But the pundits are picking them because at least one 12 always beats a 5. Every year. So they're making an educated gamble, imho

I think the best 12-5 is obviously Oregon over Wisky.

They weren't impressive early in the year but they are much, much more talented than everybody in their league except Lipscomb. Hard to judge them over the last few months to know how much they've improved. Winning at Lipscomb with a bid on the line is pretty tough for anybody to do.

I don't think they're great but if you get bad Lamar Peters I bet it will be a one or two possession game late.

SoG, that may be the truest words that ever came out of your fingers....he is damn near impossible to guard and he plays good defense,at times....he is the best guard that we played and the other one, brown( i think) is pretty good himself shooting the 3 ball...Morant is in a class by himself

Yeah I said last night the bracket sets up imo the best case scenario for MSU to reach the Sweet Sixteen.

Darius Garland scored 33 on them. If Garland had been healthy Vandy probably wins 6 or 7 games at least in the league.

Yep, I believe Oregon is favored in that game (-1 maybe?)

Murray State over Marquette is another popular 12-5 upset because of Ja Morant.

Bad Lamar can still win us some games. It seems like this team lives and dies on how well they shoot free throws and limiting fumbled turnovers. We kick the ball around more than any State team I have ever witnessed.

I like Murray State (12) over Marquette (5).

So many people wigging out over these non-chalk "picks". The sportswriters/announcers have three days to talk about the tourney before it starts and they will all be looking for potential upsets they will explore it for everyone. Just like with brackets, everyone hates listening to pure chalk.

Liberty won't be able to dictate the pace and they surely won't be able to bang with State on the glass.

Was discussing this with I Bleed Garnet in another thread.

Ja vs Marcus Howard is gonna be like 2 more athletic Marshall Hendersons going at each other. Just pulling shots every time they touch the ball
