I turned to the Texas game and my eyes started to hurt.

Not only turf but for some reason the turf is only brown around the bags.

Doesn't even look like a baseball field.

They need to figure out the definition of a woman first and admit there are only 2 genders before they begin to address that abysmal field

In before the clown UTrans fan comes back in here proclaiming that 95% of players want to play on a completely plastic field

you're always "in before" every Texas fan. on every thread about Texas. it's actually kind of sad.

Texas and Alabama live in your head. at least with Alabama, your inferiority complex makes sense

I don’t really mind a turf field but there’s looks like the old astroturf of the 80s

It’s hard to look at

If done right you can’t beat natural grass fields and dirt like the field in Oxford.

Turf grass is one thing.

Turf “dirt” is a total fricking embarrassment.

Sadly this man speaks the truth. Used to be one of the best fields in college baseball (like 20 years ago) but we’ve been passed up. And yeah, it’s not even a nice looking turf, it looks like the Astrodome or something.

We’ve had turf for as long as I can remember though. I wish they’d go to grass but drought is very real in Austin. But at a minimum they need new turf.

And this need has been accented after watching SEC games this year. Arkansas field was “Field of Dreams” level nice.

You guys have had a lot of non contact injuries over the years in sports (the last I remember was Troy O something) playing on that shite. I’m one of those conspiracy theorists that believe you get injured more on turf bc it doesn’t give like grass and dirt. It’s an expensive rug you have to cut full speed on.

I agree and pretty much any player will tell you the same. I know in football it’s been proven that turf causes more injuries.

And like OP said it looks ugly.

Turf in southern college athletics should be banned. We have great weather to grow excellent fields.

Kentucky claims their natural dirt has too many rocks or some crap to keep turf in football.

Get some damn excavators in there, take out 15 feet of Earth, Redirt, grow grass or however grass is grown.

As much as you see it at these stadiums, I wonder what the cost of a groundscrew is that so many programs view all turf as the cheaper option.
