I just don't understand this arguement. Being conference champion has NEVER been a requirement for being national champion. Never. Does that mean that conference champions have always been meaningless? Of course not. And let's be honest. The conference champion is not always the best team in the conference. If the conferene champion is ranked #6 in the country, and another team from the conference is ranked #1, I think the #1 ranked team should be in the playoff instead of the #6 ranked team.

I dont care about rivals and things when the post season get here. Any way we could have had 2 SEC Teams in the BCSNC was awesome for me. They were the 2 best teams and they deserved it.

Two points:
1. It is so hilarious to me how mad LSU fans are about 21-0. You guys know good and well you would all have been arguing to be in the title game if Reid does not strip the ball and it is 13-9 instead of 9-6. There is no way LSU fans suddenly tuck their tails and concede that Okie State is better than them and deserves to be in the game.
2. It is even more hilarious how illogical and short sighted LSU fans are being because they cant get over 21-0 and consider the future. 21-0 is over and done with. Think about the year 2016 when LSU might be ranked #3 at 12-1 and Florida #1 and yet #6 South Florida takes your spot in the playoffs because they won the Big East. You will probably all be blaming Slive and Birmingham instead of yourselves for siding with a bunch of pansies in the Big Ten.

Of course we would have before the game. But we also would not be whining about how it was not fair after getting demolished 21-0 in the title game. There is no excuse for an arse whipping like that, and the least legitimate of all excuses is saying that the team who beat your arse did not deserve to beat your arse.

How are LSU fans being short sighted. It's the Bama fans that are only looking at the last game. 21-0,21-0. Everyone has bad games Bama lost to ULM in 2007, LSU lost to UAB in 2000. Everyone has bad games. The series is tied 1-1. Thats why you don't have rematches without a playoff and at larges don't get into playoffs before all of the conference champs get in. You think that the Bronco deserved to be in the playoffs over the Jets, but they were and the system works for the NFL

I don't see how being a conference champion can be made a requirement given that some schools are independent, some play in conferences that play conference championship games and others don't. Qualifying the 4 "best" teams seems like the only way to get a level playing field. The biggest issue remains the process of ranking the teams.

That's how it will be IMO. It's still not settled but I believe I heard somewhere that the 4 best teams will be in and there will be no AQ in BCS bowls.

If it were up to me, the top 4 teams in the BCS rankings.
And in case you didn't realize, there are more than 4 conferences, so how would you select the 4 conference champions to be in the playoff?

There best way is confernce champs and then highest ranked, but that would mean more than 4. Other wise you have to go with4 best. Hey it sucked that Bama got in without even winning their division but everyone knew they were the second best team in the nation and still are. We just didn't show up. That's some Bama logic.

It should be the four best teams. Does a 3 or 4 loss team from the big east or the ACC really deserve to play for the N.C. when a one loss SEC team gets left out? That would be bull shite and would only make make things worse.
LSU fans are only saying confrence championship because LSU won the SEC this year and then lost the NC to Bama. LSU and Bama were the two best teams in college football. Bama was much better on the night of Jan. 9.

The short sightedness comes from the fact that SOME of your fellow fans are agreeing with a stipulation that very easily could hurt LSU (or another SEC team) in the future. The fact that some of you are actually trying to (with a straight face) argue that LSU wouldn't have been in a rematch with Alabama if they lost 9-6 on Nov 5th suggests there is a lot of butthurt left over from how the 2011 season ended. Under the original Jim Delaney proposal that many here seem to want (conference champions only), LSU would have sat at home while 2 loss Oregon whom LSU handled easily and 2 loss Wisconsin would have been in a 4 team playoff ahead of LSU if LSU had lost 9-6 at Bama on Nov 5th. Surely you aren't suggesting that LSU fans would have been cool with that are you?
