I'm certain the 2012 team was FAR worse. Had the 2013 team played Tulsa instead of Rutgers and 2012 Auburn instead of 2013 Auburn, they go 5-7.

And we are better this year, possibly significantly so, because our defense has gone from "Holy shite this is legendary levels of suck" to simply below average and our offense is actually more efficient now that the QB is running it by the book.

Our defense has stayed exactly the same, tho. No improvement at all.

You allowed 10 more points to Auburn than you did last season

You allowed the same number of points to the power 5 nonconference opponent on your schedule (28)

You allowed the same number of points to the non CUSA mid-major on your schedule (14)

You allowed 14 points less to your FCS opponent

So basically, on defense, you're 1 point per game better.

Who said this?

The entire premise is that, because neither team is especially good on defense, bet on the better, more balanced offense.

A&M can move the ball in a multitude of ways, convert long down and distances consistently, has a mobile QB and better talent on the whole. Arkansas plays one way offensively, and they live and die by that. If Arkansas is consistently getting stopped for only 3-5 yards a carry, they will eventually get in situations where they will have trouble converting.

This is the only reason I'm hopeful for a win in this one. Arky is terrific at what they do, but it only takes a couple of dry possessions to throw that machine of kilter. If TAMU is able to stymie Arky a couple of times or (perish the thought), get a turnover or two, we'll be in good shape.

Exactly, Arkansas can run for 250+ yards on us but if they have 2-3 consecutive dry possessions early and we get up by 3 scores they will be in for a track meet that they cannot win.

if tamu has a couple 3 and outs arkansas will just run the clock out and win. if tamu could stop the run I'd be worried about this game.

the biggest problem is that tamu will score too quickly when they score, and their d will get tired by the 3rd quarter. if arkansas can run at will i don't see how tamu can win. this game will be awesome for both teams.

How do you know that Arkansas' offense is incapable of passing the ball? Kthanksbai.

Or are you predicting the future some more? Some coaches don't throw the ball around on inferior talent.

wow good thinking there. you mean if A&M stops us and scores we'll probably lose the game? I never would've thought that

A&M has fewer total three and outs through four games than 87 FBS teams have had in at least one individual game this season.

Going back to Sumlin's first game at A&M, we have something like 23 total three and outs and almost half of them came in two games.

so you're saying tamu won't have any 3 and outs against arkansas?

Statistically, it's a distinct possibility.

honestly arkansas is going to get torn up in the secondary. arkansas' contain and cbs are good tho and I think arkansas wins the turnover battle as well as gets a couple 3 and outs.

I don't know if that's enough to win but it should be an entertaining and close game.
