Picking Schools based on Apparel

I have always thought that was a dumb reason to pick a school, but with NIL how long until kids start picking schools based on nothing more than the apparel sponsors paying their NIL?
Like Zion, if he was offered more by Jordan brand than just Nike would he have chosen North Carolina over Duke?

Have wondered the same thing. I also would bet that you're going to see a massive increase in recruiting for places like UCLA and USC for no other reason than NIL money.

It depends on the package. I may be wrong but I don’t believe recruits can be promised anything legally

I think it's already happening. A&M and Texas just lost out on a five star tackle out of Houston to Oregon, seemingly out of nowhere. Oregon is going to be one of the biggest winners in this NIL deal.

You are correct, but if he gets paid by Nike and chooses a Jordan brand school and then says oh, I thought whole umbrella, but now can’t wear anything with the swoosh. Do you think the companies are going to continue paying him?

Any school with big boosters are going to be big winners.
Arkansas could start putting athletes in Walmart ads or Tyson ads.
LSU with Raising Canes or Walk Ons.
Wonder if Oregon starts being a vulture like that, how long until Alabama or someone says nah we will do our own random apparel. And our kids won’t be seen in Nike? Remember when APEX was a thing? And under armour was nothing?

Wonder if these big companies start paying for speeches from 17-21 year old kids like they do politicians?

So the bagman is legal now. That's trouble for the SEC.
Let's say I am a 5 star athlete. I'll make it in the NFL if I were in Alabama or Alabama State. They'll find me.
Do I join a big SEC school where the grind and pressure on my body is harsher than joining the more relaxed Pac-12? I'll be just as rich if not richer, and fresher body in the NFL helps towards a longer career (more $$$).

LSU got a player a delta airlines deal. That surprised me.
What’s crazy is that the athlete that is making the most money on this nil deal, in the whole country, is a gymnast from lsu . Her deal will bring 7 figures

I remember an interview with Bobby Knight years ago when he said he lost a recruit because Indiana (at the time) was a Converse school and the recruit wanted to play for a Nike school.
That was before NIL. So I assume NIL will only make it worse. Would be interesting to see some kid sign a deal with Company X, and every school not sponsored by Company X drop to 0% in the 247 Crystal Ball prediction

That's a good point. If/when Oregon starts throwing around Nike money, I'd have a hard time believing Nike schools would be ok with it.

Her face got her that, Giselle made more at her peak than Tom. Because while being a freak athlete is special, being that stunning is very rare.

What happens if he chooses Adidas for NIL but goes to LSU does LSU say sorry he is a 5 star and going to win is the championship, he is wearing Adidas? Or say when you are on official business with us we will be Nike?

Also beauty sells everything. I don’t need a half literate athlete stumbling through a speech yelling we got dat wood.

I guess something like that would work. Actually, I think some kicker draining a 50+ yard game winning FG, then ripping off the tape to show the brand of show that kicked the game winner would be huuuuge from a marketing standpoint.
You'd probably have to look at every school's deal with their sponsor to see what the NIL could entail. I'd guess some kid who has an NIL from Under Armour could wear UA stuff under his uniform and no one would notice, but then he could show it off in the locker room before and after the game, during workouts, and stuff like that.
I see this being a bigger issue than Papa John's being the official delivery pizza of UGA but Zamir White signing a NIL deal with Domino's.

I know Mitch Mustain tried that, and that was one of the many problems we had with him. He said Adidas didn’t fit his feet, so he wore Nike covered the logos and adidas threw a fit.

You are talking about a sports business that already is at every power 5 University, paying billions for the privilege to put their logo on the equipment. How could this ever be about a few choices?
